I'd rather have Maurice Hurst and he will probably be dirt cheap...kinda surprised nobody claimed him.

I didn't even hear that Hurst hit the market. I wonder how much these guys will sign for.

So apparently Maurice Hurst has a heart condition that was flagged at the draft. Might have gone in the first round or in the 2nd if it were not for that issue. That may explain why teams passed on claiming him. All I was able to find is that it was an irregular heartbeat and the same thing was found when he was at Michigan.

That explains a lot. I wonder if something changed.

Alex Smith retired. I am surprised. I wonder if he had a setback. I am guessing he might have chosen that the amount being offered to him was not enough for him to keep playing or maybe he would rather wait until the season starts and an injury happens.

I was surprised too I figured he would play another year or 2. In addition to what you said I also wonder if he was just tired of moving to another organization/new city etc. I'd guess someone would have paid him a decent chunk of money even as a backup but I kinda doubt money was a huge factor in the decision.

Sounds like the decision was made during a family ski trip. He certainly is a family guy based on my co-workers experience with him last summer.

So much for getting Orlando Brown from Raven's. He is going to Chiefs.

Or.....#14/#78 for #27/#31? AlexLeatherford/CreedHumphrey? If Creed Humphrey is gone, how about Creed Bratton at Guard? DT/S with remaining 3rd? For the love of God a decent PR on day 3? I don't ask for much.

After reading the trade more closely I'm actually surprised the Ravens didn't get more for Brown. The big prize was basically moving from the 2nd round up to the end of the first. It almost makes me wish we had traded for him but he is about to get paid a boatload of money...which it might have been worthwhile to pay. The Ravens now have 2 picks at the end of the 1st round but no 2nd. Idk if there is anyone they would have their eye on for a trade up at #14 But with both teams not having 2nd rounders this year that may complicate a deal. The Vikings could sweeten the deal with their 3rd round pick which would be 26 picks higher than the Ravens current 3rd round pick with is a comp pick. The Vikings have a lot of mid-round draft capital to move up into the 2nd if they choose to do so. What's the over/under on draft day deals for the Vikings? Lol

I didn't think how this impact the vikings in trading picks. I would be all for trading back if you think nearly equal talent will be there and you pick up another player and year of cheap rookie contract.
