Did the option that does not help the on court product or asset but pockets 2.5 million instead. If this was a 1 time thing for the wolves. Fine. But this has been a staple of the Taylor era

That's right, Kek. Losing $800K in the trade exception is bad, but not a huge deal. But losing the ability to aggregate the Prince deal this week during free agency is really dumb. And it's especially dumb because that $2.5M is a tiny rounding error in the Wolves budget and in Taylor's bank account. It's silly to give up anything that might benefit the team for $2.5M in case. Moreover, as you noted, its part of a long-standing pattern that includes selling a 1st-round pick that could have been used to take Rudy Gobert.

I'm reading through Larry Coon's CBA FAQ and I'm not sure what Dane said is correct although he tends to be pretty good on this type of stuff. From what I could see the aggregation issues are only if you use an exception to acquire the player. The Wolves didn't use an exception to make this trade they took back less salary.

In addition I don't see anything that says the aggregation ends based on the league year it was done. I'd be happy to see someone find otherwise.

Regardless I think Glen should send a 2.5 million dollar check to this forum and we can disperse it between all of us. Seems like a fair deal to me. There is an advantage to the Wolves also being able to receive the full 5.1 million or whatever it is this season too. Yeah it's just money but I'd take it. Lol

I was in favor of the trade last week that brought Taurean Prince and a draft pick to Minnesota, but that's because I liked that we upgraded the backup wing spot with a reliable shooter... I don't like that Gersson Rosas referred to Prince as a four in any capacity. It's the "Josh Okogie, power forward" situation all over again. Rosas is a mixed bag as far as good and bad decisions, in my opinion, but he needs to stop with this small ball bullshit.

I get your frustration. I think it's also obvious that Rosas doesn't see Prince as the answer there. I do think Prince playing some minutes as a PF will make sense against some team's lineups where they are going small and the "Bigs" the Wolves would put out there may not make sense/give them an advantage over playing smaller. I think we can agree that at times/situations Prince who is a very good catch and shoot 3 point guy should be on the floor somewhat regardless of position. Rosas and Finch have also said a lot of this suggesting playing bigger the last few weeks and months. I think it's pretty obvious that Finch is open to playing bigger players together.

My question is how he got pegged as a 4 to begin with. He can shoot the rock and from what I remember, played the 3 when he first came into the league. Just because whoever he played for last year played him at the 4 doesn't mean that's what works for the Wolves. Surprised Rosas said this in light of his other comments that said we need to get bigger.

My hope is that Prince gives Okogie a run for his money as our backup 3.

I agree with you on the small-ball BS! At his draft day press conference, Rosas talked about the need to get bigger. But he doesn't seem to understand what that really means. I'm guessing that Finch told him they need to get bigger. I guess Finch will now need to explain exactly what that means. I see Prince as a backup wing behind McDaniels (assuming McDaniels picks up where he left off last season).
