He always takes the blame in the most disingenuous way possibly.
Please tell me you saw his quote the other day talking about how he's a Scorpio and that's why he gets so emotional during games.
I can't say I saw that quote or clip. I can imagine. After what game? You have the link?

So it's now 28 straight losses on the 2nd day of a back-to-back after a road win.
The next closest in NBA HISTORY is 17 straight losses.

You could feel this one coming in the 2nd quarter. The Hawks had a ton of great looks... the Wolves were hitting contested and step-back threes after several dribbles. The game was going to swing... the Wolves just made it even easier than expected with that start to the 2nd half. That makes two straight games with terrible 3rd quarters.
The first player to mention that it's not ok to keep being complacent after a win should be punched in the face. (It's surely going to be Towns.)

I felt the exact same thing Abe. After watching the second quarter I felt like we were coasting on our shot making and we were doomed, especially since the defensive intensity took a hit with PBev's absence.

Yep, you guys nailed it. Everything changed after PatBev (+9 in his 6 minutes and totally shut Young down) left with an ankle injury (the good news is it looked pretty minor to me as I watched him walking around during the game).
Atlanta is very good (despite their record) and the Wolves got into town at 3:15 this morning. But they were missing two starters, and despite our absurd 28-game losing streak in back halves, I think we win this one if Beverley can stay on the court. We looked terrific in that first quarter at both ends of the court.
Just read the thread, and I agree that it was difficult to watch KAT's immaturity tonight...grow up, man. But is it rubbing off on Ant? I watched and rewatched his missed layup when he whined to the refs twice about no call, and I still haven't seen him even get touched. I like Ant's intensity, but for God's sake, save the whining for when the refs actually miss a call...don't be KAT! Too bad that the kid couldn't finish the game in his hometown, but it's entirely his fault. I hope he learns from it.
Another great offensive game from DLo, but again he looks like the DLo of old on defense when not paired with PatBev...we gave up 121 points in the 3 1/2 quarters after Pat left, and that's not good. Our Big 3 is very productive offensively, and we look like a good team when Pat plays, but we're not going anywhere without him...and he's not exactly proven to be the Iron Horse in his career. I'm a little discouraged by this latest injury...hope he's back for the Nets game.
Finally, I probably would have turned this game off after our defense intensity disappeared. But I would have missed an incredible performance by Trae Young. Are you kidding me. His eyes got as big a saucers when Beverley went down, and we were treated to an elite offensive performance.

I think we're giving Beverley too much credit... and not enough credit to Young.
Young started the game off horribly, with some very lazy passes/play. Maybe some of it was because of Beverley? But not THAT much. Again, Atlanta was still getting great looks. And Trae Young is miles better than Patrick Beverley at this point.
There are very real reasons why Young is 5th in the league in scoring... and 3rd in assists.

Trae Young deserves a ton of credit for turning this game around...he's an extraordinary offensive talent and really fun to watch. And you're right that Atlanta was still getting some great looks at the start of the game...Young is an amazing facilitator, and facilitating rather than trying to score seemed to make more sense to him when Pat was on him. But having watched most of almost every game game this year (this team just seems a lot more fun to watch this year) I disagree that we are giving PatBev too much credit. What we saw last night was not a one-time thing...night after night our defense is very, very good when Beverley is out there, and meh (or in the case of last night...terrible), when he's not. It's clear to me we need him on the court to be successful on defense.
(Closed circuit to kekgeek, since you seem to be the best here at researching revealing data. The paragraph above is based solely on my eye test. If there's data out there that shows we are almost as effective on defense when PatBev is off the court, I'd love to be corrected on this.)

From a peer statistical standpoint there is actually 0 effect on the wolves defense when it comes to Beverly. It is literally a 0.0 pt difference with him on and off the court when it comes to defense

For fun... I went to find other Beverley vs. Young games.
Turns out Beveley has missed every one of the matchups since Young's rookie season?
Young averaged 25.5 ppg / 12.5 apg in those two games.

The Wolves are 6-7 in the 13 games Patrick Beverley has missed this season. He's had a big impact on this team, don't get me wrong, but the team is plenty capable of winning games without him. These games come down to the little-big three of Karl-Anthony Towns, D'Angelo Russell, and Anthony Edwards more often than not -- not Beverley.

Wow...thx Kek. that certainly doesn't meet my eye test!
