I'm guessing they would rather just sign Joakim Noah.

I wonder if the Knicks would go for a deal like this. The money and length of contracts are a wash.
Wolves: PF/C Taj Gibson, SG Wayne Ellington
Knicks: C Gorgui Dieng

Highly doubt they do they. Both Gibson and Ellington have team options. So easier to trade for an asset. And gorgui for this year and next is not a positive asset

Dario Saric (25):
28.1 MPG, 11.1 PPG (43.4% FG, 39.3% 3P on 4.7 3PA, 76.5% FT), 6.3 RPG, 2.2 APG, 1.2 SPG, 0.7 WS, 1.8 BPM, 0.3 VORP
One could easily make an argument that he'd be Minnesota's third best player so far this season if you simply translated those numbers over. He's been a key component as to why the Phoenix Suns are competitive this season. Saric is a guy that I would have liked to see play in this new system that seems to be a bit more simplified and free-flowing. His game suits that style and I think we would have seen his broad skill set come alive.
Trading Saric last summer was far from a franchise-crushing move, especially with how early Jarrett Culver is in his development, but he's definitely someone that would have been useful if he was here.

It's worth following how he does this year. I noticed a week ago or so he had stating shooting the ball better and the stats have gone the good direction. I thought getting Saric in that deal was a good one for the Suns but not sure about their Draft selection. As for his fit here there remains some questions for me.
1. Did they see him as a PF or a backup C?
2. How much were they willing to pay him? How much does Saric get?
3. Is there a player that steps up and becomes a worthwhile player that wouldnt have had the opportunity otherwise? Vonleh hasn't played as much lately but I still like what I have seen. Jordon Bell...not so much. Could Naz Reid end up being part of what Saric is as a big floor spacing guy with some passing ability? I still like Saric too.

Bogdan Bogdanovic has been nothing short of fantastic recently. Stepping up big time with De'Aaron Fox sidelined. Averaging 21.5 PPG, 8.0 APG, 3.3 RPG, and 2.8 SPG on 51.7% FG, 51.7% 3P on 7.3 3PA, and 90.0% FT. Leading the Kings to a 3-1 record over their last four games.
Keeping an eye on him because I think he's a perfect fit in Minnesota.

Just looked at the box score of that game against the Suns.
Bjelica has been shooting really well for the Kings this year. He had 17 and 8. Saric and Rubio combined for 3 points and 4 rebounds.

I'd put Dario 5th on the list of players responsible for the Suns early success. He's been fine. And for $3M+ that's great. But it's a one-year thing and the Wolves were pretty clear they're working on a window that's larger than one year. He'll get a raise next summer. And it's no secret he wasn't exactly enamored with being traded to MN.

To be fair, Rubio sat out the previous game with back spasms... and apparently, he wasn't fully healed. He didn't play after halftime.

At this rate, he may cost too much. With our cap situation, we kind of need to target guys flying a bit under the radar and potentially on the cusp of breaking out. That was him last season. Now it may be too late!
