This signing suggests that the Lakers are looking ahead to next summer to go after Kawhi or one of the many other elite free agents will be available then. The Lakers will continue to fill out the rest of their roster with 1 year deals. Then they'll see how things go this next season with LeBron and their young talent, including Ball, Ingram, Kuzma, Hart and now KCP. The Lakers are going to be very good next season even without landing another star like Kawhi.

I wonder if we will see an outcry from Western Conference GM's for a playoff bracket that is not strictly split by conference...

I can't stand listening to talking heads say that LeBron made this decision for his family. BS. He made this decision to cement his basketball legacy or legend and to live in the limelight of Tinseltown. It's like taking his talents to Southbeach after he knew he had to other elite players there with him. I'll grant that his family might have had veto power over this decision. But is there anything who thinks his wife or kids would veto moving the Southern California in favor or Cleveland or Philadelphia?

It does suck to see the Lakers reestablish themselves again. But don't blame the Lakers, blame the NBA.
By the way for you hockey fans - Did you notice what happened today? A star player in his prime voluntarily chose to leave New York to go to a Canadian team. You have to love the NHL.

You might be into something there. Honestly I think that might be a good plan espcially if the price for Kawhi is too high. I honestly don't know what the Lakers have that ai would t give up to get him...assuming he was actually healthy which I don't know if he is or isn't. If I was Lebron I would want Julius Randle back on the Lakers playing with me.

Damn, the west is going to be a bloodbath. The east should be relegated to the Gleague.
Magic counters thibs' move to sign one former MVP by getting one of his own. Its your move Thibs.
