Lavine usually starts the 4th as the first option and play the entire quarter while wig and towns come back at the 7-8min mark and towns usually starts hero balling.

This isnt a case of wiggins having the kevin martin syndrome in the 4th. The team needs to involved wig more. I say give him more touches in the post in the 4th. Let him draw fouls and start the offense there. I wont mind towns getting post touches as well but we should stop this perimeter oriented offense in 4th quarters.

Good post I agree. Our perimeter offense in the 4th seems to be the dominant story line this year. Guys get nervous when behind 4 and start forcing shots.

Dunn created a couple open looks again to start the 4th. He's pushed the ball well tonight.

The only problem with feeding Wiggins in the post is that he never passes it out. This season, Towns is the same way. It's either a shot or a turnover from that point on. I'd really just like to stop the isolation bullshit completely. Ball movement and team defense is what consistently wins. We can talk about three-point shooting, point guard play, and whatever else, but until these guys understand the former, we will continue to struggle and it doesn't matter who's standing on the sideline.

Dunn with back to blunders blunders! Wiggins did enter the 4th with 8-9 minutes left and a 4 point lead. Like cool said hopefully Kat and Wig will learned to create for others and make teammates better, until then the team will be inconsistent. That's without talking about the defense.

I'll keep this bleated DVR-influenced recap shorter...

1. In the middle of the big 4th quarter run, the Wolves went 5 straight (or was it 6?) possessions without hitting the rim.
2. Shabazz Muhammad wants out. I want him out. Make it happen. Now. Thanks.
3. The Wolves Big 3 had a fairly decent showing. The Warriors walked through this one. And we saw how "easy" it looked in the 4th quarter when GSW turned it on... with their bench.
4. Woe.

i think towns has let the pub go to his head a bit. Hes pressing and taking terrible shots. Not to mention its odd i dont hear anyone criticizing the wide open clanks he had tonight from 3. Guy needs to let the game come to him. He did a much better job of this last year. Not sure if the system or just the public eye more on him and all the best player talk. Need towns to relax a bit more.

I think it's the hype more than anything with Kat. It's been evident from the start of the year. It's very odd whatever it is. I got in an argument with a good buddy of him one of the first games about Kat's demeanor on the court and with his teammate. He seems fake and scripted to me.

His talent is so good he'll figure it out. He wants to be the leader, but that needs to be earned.

Kat plays hard, that is not an issue. But his shot selection, ball hogging, hero balling and playing like a guard standing around the 3pt line really hurt us. He was such an efficient player last year and this year he tries to do too much that it hasnt help the team. His defense has regressed as well. He is still the most talented player onthe team no question. But he needs to get it together and keep it simple for himself and work on his defense.

Question:

We always hear about how communication is a good thing. I know there have been a bunch of quotes from Kevin Garnett about how everyone should always be talking. I think everyone here would agree with that. It helps keep the team together in a way.

So, why has this board had discussions about whether or not Thibs yelling from the sideline is destructive? What is he saying that would be different from a player on the floor? Or can we concede that it's a silly talking point and we should just move past it?

Well, it gets back to your Olive Garden analogy. At some point, you want your team on the front line to execute things autonomously, without you having to constantly bark out orders to them every three seconds. From a management perspective, it means that a) he either doesn't trust his guys, b) he's not teaching them how to manage and communicate among themselves, or c) is such a micro-manager, he wouldn't know what to do with himself if he gave up control.

A great manager is one whose team can be successful without him. That enables him to go off and do other more strategic things. At the same time, the team is empowered to make decisions on their own and hold each other accountable.

Well said, Q. By the way, the answer is c). My friend in Chicago who's a Bulls season ticket holder warned me when we hired Thibs that he's the ultimate micro-manager calls every play. He said it may or may not work with our guys the way it worked with Rose and Butler. It's certainly, at a minimum, been an adjustment for our players. My experience in both business and sports is that micro-managing generally doesn't work. But perhaps things will eventually gel here with Thibs and our players.
