Let's bring our guy home.
I had actually toyed with this idea the other day, but I can't see Cleveland trading him back to us without demanding Wiggins.
Your thinking is logical, Cam. But I see several reasons the Cavs might go for the deal I suggested. First and foremost is the seemingly horrific chemistry issues between Love and his teammates. Second is Love's contract and the fact that the deal I suggested would provide them with a lot of salary relief. Finally, the Cavs' biggest weakness is defense and Gorgui (believe it or not) would be a significant step up from Love defensively.
The deal would be even more enticing to Cleveland now with Love out 4-6 weeks. I'm not sure I'd so the deal if I were Thibs, but I wanted to get a sense from others.
I would even give up the 1st. I have said from the beginning if you get an all star you can give up the 1st. Teague/wiggins/Butler/love/towns.
Good lineup. I would be down for that. But how would love react playing for taylor and would taylor want him back
I think Love's beef was with Kahn, not Glen Taylor. And I would think he'd relish getting out of the oppressive environment he faces with his teammates in Cleveland. I hate giving up first round picks, but I agree that it's acceptable if needed to acquire an all-star in his prime. But honestly, I wouldn't give up a first for several reasons. First, Love's own injury history and age gives me pause. He's still arguably in his prime but just barely. Second, he's salary is enormous and the Cavs would be getting tremendous salary cap relief from the deal. Third, Love's recent hand injury would leave us short-handed until near the end of the season. For those reasons, I'd offer no more than Gorgui, Cole and Bazz.

Are they saving that much salary. For next year 15 million for gorgui, 2 mil for Cole (his deal is partially guaranteed) and bazz could easily opt in for a mil. So they would save about 7-8 mil. I feel that is not relief for Love for a backup big. I think we would have to add a 1st or patton. Or add teague and we take back Frye and shump. (I would not do that to much turnover)
I wouldn't do the deal for Love. Too many guys who need the ball in the starting 5. We still aren't all the way there in terms of figuring it out how to do it with 4 let alone adding a 5th. Love would pretty much be the same 3pt specialist here that killed his usefullness there. I think it would work if a 3rd team was brought in.
MN - Harkless and Ed Davis
Cleveland - Dieng, Aldrich, Vonleh and picks
Por- Love
We get our bench wing and frontcourt depth. Portland gets a big name to appease Lillard. Cleveland gets picks, G and a flyer on Vonleh. Not very enticing for them, but if he has to go that might be enough value.

I agree with Kahns on this. We have enough offensive weapons. The only way this trade works is if Love came off the bench, and we all know that aint happening.
I also think the trade has no chance of happening. Teams don't trade all-stars for minimum cap relief, while taking in a bad contract.
the more I look at our make up, the more I think we should offer up Teague for Rubio. The offense just isn't that much of a factor, and I think Rubio made guys better.
Lou would provide a true scoring punch for the bench, would be good insurance if Teague keeps getting nicked up. He would also be a huge weapon for a 7 game battle against Houston and Golden State. Would Glen pay up to keep him? I think he would at this point.

If Glen is willing to pay someone decent money to come off the bench next year I would be interested in doing a Cole and Brooks for Jordan Clarkson deal if the Lakers thought they couldn't do any better it terms of saving money in salary. Basically you are getting a possibly overpaid combo guard but get him for nothing. On abetter team I think it's possible Clarkson becomes a better 3 point shooter and he would give the team someone who can really push the pace. Part of the problem with adding either Clarkson or Lou is that they are kinda similar to what's crawford already brings.
So, would some of you rather trade for a 31-year old Lou Williams -- any realistic deal will include that OKC first-rounder -- and then pay him $15M annually instead of making a play for Kent Bazemore? Serious question. I like Lou Will, but that's not the move I'd make.
