Towns had a huge grin, however. FWIW.

Towns and Wiggins were roommates and became friends during the Nike Hoops Summit two years ago so it wouldn't surprise me that Karl smiled. There was a Skype interview Karl did where he went further into that if you'd like to see it.

Without trying to take away from this thread, who would Kevin Garnett pick if he was making the decision? I'm curious who the great mentor would choose.

Probably Towns. I don't see why keeping Garnett as a mentor upsets you. I think he would be a huge asset with either Towns or Okafor.

I think Cam is just having some fun with the "KG mentor" thing...I'm pretty sure he's buying into it more now that his guy Karl Anthony has talked about what a great mentor KG would be.

I'm guessing that KG sees a lot more of himself in Towns, so that would probably be his choice. Karl Anthony's rim protection skills combined with feet quick enough to defend the perimeter is very remindful of KG, as is the comfort with shooting from the outside. KG is a savvy defensive mind, so he likely recognizes that a PF combo of himself and Towns would look very good next to a healthy Pek.

Flip said on the Funkadelic something like "KG likes to work with the guards" I think he was kinda joking though. Lol maybe KG would pick Russell. :)

Quoting NBA writer Alex Kennedy:

"Immediately after winning the lottery, Saunders said on a conference call with reporters that the Timberwolves want their top overall pick to fit into an up-tempo system (which makes a lot of sense for them with Andrew Wiggins, Zach LaVine and Ricky Rubio among others part of the long-term plan).

"I think both [Okafor and Towns] are going to be All-Star type players, but I think when we look at anybody that we look at in the draft, it's about how they will fit in with the players that we have, what their dynamic is and how we want to play," Saunders said. "We feel that with Wiggins and with LaVine, that we can be an up-tempo team."

Can I change my vote? I think Flip's been doing his research.

That is interesting Cam. I think one thing that's a misnomer about Flip is he does his research and I think he looks at more analytic than given credit for but he mentioned in his funkadelic how he talks to college coaches aboit these young prospect because they recruited these guys and therefore have good info on them.

I thought this was interesting.

Former UCLA star Don MacLean, the all-time leading scorer in the Pac-12 and at UCLA, has been training Towns in Los Angeles and said he's "blown away" by Towns' ability both to step out and shoot it and score in the post.

"I've been doing this for 11 or 12 years pre-draft," he told SNY.tv. "Because I had a lot of top 10 picks and a lot of really good players, I'm not really impressed or blown away. I had Towns all last week and I was blown away. Blown away.

"A kid that big but shoots it that well but handles it that well and understands the game, that's coachable, that wants to get better, wants to be great, I was blown away by him last week.

"Am I a little biased? I've known Jahlil because I've done Adidas nations forever. Jahlil's a great kid and a great player but I just think he doesn't have as much to his game as Karl has."
