Cam,
Not a bad plan for Lakers and Wolves. With Kobe still in fold for 2 more years, they need to try to win now. #7 pick does nothing for them. However, David Lee + resigned Gasol makes sense for Lakers. And since we won't be competing next season, we can add a younger player to add to core. Wonder if we could work a deal to include a resigned Jordan Hill in deal as well. Could use a vet PF to play minutes this season.
Two conflicting reports, both of which indicate there won't be a Love deal that brings Klay to the Wolves. One report is that the Warriors have not offered and will not include Klay in any deal. The other report says the Wolves don't want Klay because he has only one year left on his contract before becoming a restricted FA in which case he may be too expensive to keep. I think we're now getting a lot of misinformation put out by agents and teams for strategic reasons.
I'm certain that Klay is in the mix, but doubt the Wolves are close to a deal with the Warriors. Anyone in the Warriors organization who thinks they can get Love without giving up Klay is clearly smoking dope and dropping acid. Personally, I don't think the a wolves will do a deal with the a Warriors. I think it will be Boston, Chicago or Phoenix.

Draft picks and cap space are useless for the wolves. There's no reason why you can't get proven players and continue to nail your own mid round picks

Lip, here's how I view the Golden State/Minnesota rumors:
Warriors: We're interested in Kevin Love, we'll give you a solid replacement in Lee, a young upside guy in Barnes, and we'll throw in a couple seconds Wolves: Good one! How about you call us back when we hear the name Klay come out of your mouth. In the meantime, we'll talk to Boston and the several other teams that have serious offers Warriors: Okay...we'll give up Klay and David Lee for Love and Budinger or KMart. Wolves: Well now you're in the ballpark, but we're going to need Barnes or a 1st too. We need to make sure our fans feel like we got a bit of extra value since we're giving up the #1 player in the trade (hoping the Warriors want him bad enough throw in the fodder) Warriors: We'll call your bluff. We think we'll just keep Klay instead (meanwhile hoping the Wolves blink and settle for the straight up swap) Lakers: Settle down guys...we want in...we'll add the #7 pick into play and send that to the Wolves and take Klay off your hands. Wolves: Chris Broussard, is that you?
