Scott skiles should get consideration from flip. Gentry would be good as an assistant in my view, the guy knows how to coach offense.

I can see golden state making a push for hoiberg. From a basketball standpoint for fred, that would be a more attractive option than the wolves. Would hate to see fred get snatch up by another team.

stan van gundy has agreed with detroit to be coach/gm. Good for detroit for getting the best coach available. they have great pieces in drummond and monroe and have cap space available. I can see stan being successful with them.

Stan got what flip wants. If glen gives in then flip will make himself coach in no time.

Stan also got $7M per year to go along with total control. WOW! Good for him.

Wolfson said he got a text today from a coach, whose name he wouldn't give, that said Izzo/Hoiberg are still in Flip's sights. I think Flip might be creating one big proposal for both of them. Instead of rushing, maybe he's taking his time getting every thought together to entice one of them here.

Yep, probably will make a decent, but not great offer to the Mayor, and then when he refuses, Flip will come out with a presser along the lines of "a long and exhaustive search has been conducted and it appears I am the best candidate to coach this team".

It appears that the prevailing board opinion is that Flip is intentionally dragging his feet, and eventually will name himself as the only coaching candidate. And by the way, like him or not, the Wolves beat writer Jerry Zgoda shares the same belief. I still don't see it, because it's not what Glen Taylor wants, and billionaires generally get what they want. Glen has publicly stated that he doesn't want Flip to have both jobs, and I think he would look foolish reversing his stance. Glen gives the impression that he is an "aw shucks country boy", but he didn't get to be a billionaire by being hands off and having no ego. Flip may or may not want the coaching job...I'm on the fence, but lean toward the opinion of the board that he wants it...but Glen has clearly stated his preference, and he is the MFWIC (motherfucker what's in charge). Take the level of interest that we on this board have in the coaching search, and multiply it by two to understand Glen's interest. It's his team, and he both wants to win and have his investment be its maximum value. You need to know that he is in daily contact with Flip about the search. "What did you do today, Flip, what do you think of this guy, I'm not interested in this guy, what does Kevin think about this guy, etc...". Flip may want to coach, but he also wants to keep his PBO job, and Glen will hold him accountable.

If you think for a moment that Glen is hands off in this process and doesn't try to get what he wants, remember these two words...Joe Smith.

Any word from the Hollins camp? Haven't heard his name for any of the openings.

Marc Spears says Jazz, Cavs, Warriors and Wolves have shown interest in Hollins.

I am hoping that before Kerr signs on the Knicks dotted line that the Warriors will stay engaged with him, giving Flip time to swoop in and get Hollins or whoever else he wants. Once Kerr signs, then the Warrios become stiff competition for the Wolves.

I refuse to believe Flip is going to coach the team, btw.

Wow! Kerr takes the Golden State job. I can see reasons why he spurned the Knicks, but I still find myself surprised. I wonder who the Knicks go after now?

Good choice by kerr for choosing to coach the warriors instead of the knicks. The warriors in my view is the most attractive coaching opening in the market. They have the right pieces. Good and complimentary mix of skills and have defense as well as offense. It was the right move for kerr for both personal and professional reasons. He lives in the area and he is close to jacob as he is to phil. The warriors have the better roster as well. Cant see any incentive of him joining the knicks instead of the warriors.

The knicks are in a tough spot. Melo being a free agent, no draft pick and big time pressure. Cant see jackson hiring anyone he didnt coach before. Rmbis might get another shot but the knicks are in trouble.

Interesting development here. I guess if I were offered both jobs (and for the record, I have been offered neither), I would prefer the Golden State job too.

I've never been a Phil Jackson fan (in fact, going to college in Connecticut, I was a big Knicks fan in the early 70s, and we all used to make fun of Jackson), and would love to know how successful he would be coaching a team that didn't have at least two all time top 50 players. I'm enjoying seeing him get turned down by a guy who's never coached, and who I wouldn't even want as the Timberwolves coach. Yeah, it will be interesting who is next on his list.
