Reggie Jackson is more than I thought we could get for Rubio. Go Thibs.

From a basketball standpoint, Jackson has been better than Rubio the last two seasons. He also started this season injured so I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. He's a ball-dominant guard for sure, but so is Ricky in order to be affective. Without the ball, Ricky's a non-factor as we've seen time and time again.

This trade comes down to two things. Do I trust Thibs? Do I think he can mesh with our current personalities? The answer to the first question is a resounding yes. I think Thibs has shown that he can get a lot out of guys that were perceived to be ballhogs -- Nate Robinson, Aaron Brooks, and even D.J. Augustin. As for the second question, I'm not sure. I've read some troubling things pertaining to Jackson's locker room manner and that's a concern. I'll support it and like it if it happens because I trust Thibs' judgement, but if it doesn't, I won't think too much about it.

Rubio + Muhammad for Jackson is what I'm assuming the deal was.

I think drafting Dunn and trading Ricky is an admission that drafting Rubio was the mistake. Not that watching Curry hasn't told us that already.

It's a low risk high reward trade. We either keep losing or start winning .

I think the drafting of Dunn and trading of Rubio aren't even related. Dunn very well could have been the best player on the Wolves big board. It also wasn't our biggest need at the time either. And trading Rubio isn't in an effort to give Dunn the reigns -- its to try and upgrade the position. I can't fault management for wanting to do either move -- take BPA and then later try to upgrade a position.

I would want Stanley Johnson in the trade if we are giving them Shabazz.

Trading for Jackson doesn't mean they made the wrong pick of Dunn or they are low on him at this point. Jackson at this point is simply a more talented player than Rubio. You can debate which guy helps his team more but if this was a year ago and we traded Rubio and Bazz for Jackson I think most people would have been THRILLED. Jackson has the game that would be terrific as a 30mpg 6th man. You can't say that about Rubio.

Lavine has been basically playing with the bench in a pseudo 6th man role imagine if you put Jackson as the 6th man. Would Jackson come off the bench this year or in the future? Idk but based on his rotations this year there is a possibility of Jackson playing plenty of minutes. Would he give up some of his usage and pass the ball enough? Idk it would be interesting to see if Thibs could make it work. If Jackson started Suddenly Diengs complimentary unselfish play would become a more significant asset.

As for the other stuff that comes with Jackson. That's a big concern and it's a big deal. He would have to buy in bigtime and I don't know if he is capable of doing that. If he did...wow that would be a heck of a trade. Zach Randolph was a guy with baggage and Memphis took him on because they had cap space and man that turned out to be great. It would be a gamble. I also wonder if he would be a guy that would be able to be dealt again if it didn't work out. At this point I think he would have more value than Rubio does but his value could be worse.

Oof. While Jackson could (?) improve the team short term, his contract goes through 2020. He's ball dominant on a team with three guys who score 20+. I'm skeptical. It could work, but I'd literally rather trade Ricky for nothing, let Dunn and Tyus play the rest of the year, see what happens with them, and most likely secure a high pick in the draft to possibly go after a point guard.

Is Reggie the best player the Wolves could get back for Rubio? Probably. Does that make it a smart move? Not sure. Trust in Thibs I guess, this is his team now.

Tyus not getting any minutes sucks in this scenario. It feels like the guy deserves a shot at this point.

Another thing I didn't say in my previous post is that SVG seems to be looking to dump him. That doesn't seem good. He has dumped let for a few players while taking over that franchise. Was he wrong on any of them so far? Not yet and yet he has made something pretty good out of whichever Morris twin is there. It's kinda weird/interesting.
