Bleed -- Actually not a bad idea and maybe realistic. LRMM with either Shved or JJ for Mayo. Then sign Isaiah Thomas using the MLE. Pair those two with Shabazz and either Dieng or Turiaf in our second unit and we suddenly have a credible bench.
Future T-wolf Nik Stauskas was named Big Ten POY yesterday. Other possible Wolves Terran Petteway and Gary Harris were also named to the first team all conference, and Harris was also named to all-defensive team. Doug McDermott is a lock for College Player of the Year.
And with all the hyped freshmen and Euro-trash expected to go top 10, it's a good bet that at least three of these guys will still on the board when our pick comes up, and maybe all four.

There's always the risk that happens. The board is divided as to Flip's performance in his one draft, but as I look at how most of the 2014 draftees have flopped and the enormous potential of Dieng and Muhammad, I think it was a major success. Unfortunately Flip can only draft 'em, he can't put 'em on the court.
I hope he doesn't trade out of this draft, even for a veteran, but trading down is a possibility. There will be a lot of good options in the late teens and 20s. My preference right now though would be to take the best wing available at 13.
Great time of year to watch prospects...conference tournaments followed by NCAAs. Interesting to see who steps up when it counts. Stauskas and McDermott were special yesterday, Harris not so much. Stauskas and Harris match up in the championship game this afternoon. Kyle Anderson put up 21-15-5 in the upset over Arizona, and teammate Zach Lavine gave more proof that he's not ready to come out.
McDermott is a special player, but it's starting to look like he's going to go top 10. But all the others should be there at 13, along with Petteway, Hood, Selden and Hairston. So many possibilities.
Stauskas v Harris today. I have to say, I do like Stauskas a lot, but I only want him at a value pick. He should be going 18-25 based on his talent in my mind. He is a great shooter, and good at other things. His man on man d is average at best, he has short arms, etc. Ideally if we could trade down with Phoenix and still get him or Harris and get our pick back that would be ideal. I think he is too much of a stretch at 13 if that is where we are picking.

Getting him at 13 at this point actually would be great value. I'm starting to get worried that he won't be hanging around that long in the draft. His stock is rising as he was named B1G POY and likely will carry Michigan to a nice tourney result.
So you're proposing we trade down with Phoenix and get back our first-rounder for next year in the deal? We might as well ask for Dragic in the trade too. Lol absolutely screwing the Suns over. There's no way that we trade down and get a first rounder out of it.
Our 13 for their 18 or 24 and getting our pick back yes. We would maybe have to wiggle with a 2nd rounder. The protection up to top 12 on our pick lasts for a while (2016) and then reverts into a second round pick. It is not ever unprotected and never higher than 12. It is never a guaranteed 1st round pick that we would be getting back. It is not as much of a stretch as you are making it out to be.
As I read Cam's and Doper's posts, I'm thinking the pre (and post) draft discussion is going to be fun this year. So many options, and there will be a lot of diverse opinions. Cam, there are so many highly-valued freshman and Euros in the lottery this year, not to mention guys I cant believe didn't come out earlier like McDermott and Smart, I can't see any way Stauskas moves up into the top 12 this year. Plus, he's not the kind of guy who is going to wow anyone at the draft combines...there's nothing overly impressive about his measurements or athleticism. But that said, I also don't see him dropping as far as Doper is suggesting. After all, he is the Big 10 player of the year, can shoot the lights out, and doesn't have any serious negatives. I see him as a late lottery pick in this strong draft...right where we're going to be.
Doper's proposed deal with the Suns is too aggressive, but I'm intrigued by his concept of trading down in this deep draft if it allowed us to address multiple needs. If we could find a way to unload unattractive contracts and/or pick up a veteran that helps us out, and Flip still thinks there will be a very good SG available with a later pick (Petteway, Seldon, Hairston, Markel or Jabari Brown, Young...so many good ones), it might be a good option to pursue.
