I say put him in the game and see if he can play.
Mel Kiper had the Vikings taking a WR with their first pick. Hey the Vikings could use some WRs because they lost 2 but this team has bigger needs than find a #3 WR even if Treadwell sucks and can't play. You know who would be a really good compliment to the guys they have right now? A guy like Treadwell. It feels like people just write off Jarius Wright like he isn even on the roster. The talk about the Vikings needing a WR drives me nuts. Pick a guy in the 5th round or something. The Purple podcast spent so much time on that and whether or not the Vikings would admit a mistake on taking Treadwell last year...I don't know if I can keep listening to those guys. Goessling is a solid guy but Judd and Coller drive me batty for a few reasons. Sorry I just finished listening to the rest of the podcast this afternoon I need to vent a bit. Lol they do seem to think Treadwell really was bad last year though and that he might not be good. It seems like at least a couple of them have some actual sources for their info so that is a bit troubling. Still the guy has been in the league less than a year and he hasn't even turned 22 yet. I'll keep up a bit of optimism about him.

I was listening to them and stopped. Unless the Treadwell just can't figure out the playbook I say he can be 4th WR. I would expect the German kid to know the playbook by now. I would draft a TE before another WR. I am fine with Wright being 3rd WR. Now if they would say we draft WR Curtis Samuel from Ohio State I would be on board. Kid is a bigger Percy Harwin. Could easily be a Warrick Dunn type. Having him in Murray on the field together could give you a lot of different looks.

You mentioned Moritz but there are other guys that are interesting also. The shortest guy is 6'3"
Fruechte has been around and the Lions had him on their roster for a bit last year. Dude is big and plenty fast.
Speaking of big and fast Mitch Matthews is huge 6'5" and 4.5 speed. He has been on a couple practice squads.
Cayleb Jones is maybe the least interesting guy but has NFL bloodlines and was a top recruit and was a pretty productive college receiver.
Plus the Vikings added Truesdell who if he is any good can certainly be used as a pass catcher.
I'm not suggesting these guys are gonna be good maybe none of them even make the team (Id assume one makes it as a ST like Fruechte) but there is some talent there and it wouldn't be that shocking to see another guy that wasn't drafted become worthwhile. How much talent difference is there between those guys and someone picked in the 4-7 rounds? These guys have also had some experience working in the NFL sphere that probably helps and they are relatively young still. All I am saying is that I see no way with the needs this team has at other spots that they take a WR before the 4th round and I fought they take a guy till the 5th round. I think some of letting WRs go in the offseason is that they like what they have plus you can always pick up a vet WR if you really need to later.

I didn't know we had all of those guys as projects. Crazy number of big WRs. Wright really is the only guy that fits the smaller speed type. Curtis Samuel would be a good fit here in my opinion. Could be slot, return guy, and 3rd down back.

Article on the picks by Kiper and McShay for Vikings in second. WR vs DL. I am all for a DL. I would love Brantley in 2nd and a guy like Tanzel Smart in 5th or 6th round as depth at DT. We at least need a DT in our first 3 picks. If Mixon or Samuel drop to us in second I would probably take them, but Brantley would be hard to pass up.

I think Moritz could be the KR guy. Big fast etc you don't have to have many nuances down to catch the ball and run towards where the hole is supposed to be. It's obviously not that simple but it's not as difficult to figure out as being a WR. He isn't CP but he might actually be bigger and is pretty damn athletic. Maybe he isn't going to be able to play football but imagine trying to block that guy if he is going down the field on ST. They have him listed as 6'4" 227 but he looks bigger than that...in a good way.

I wonder if he will get preseason snaps this year.

Redrafted today. Interesting how new mocks make things play out differently. Most of the guys in my first draft got drafted earlier in this draft and all of them were gone by round 5. Both drafts had top 2 centers available in round 4 with them being gone by the time we draft in round 5.
Big Board Selected: Bleacher Report - Matt Miller 4/4
48: R2P16 RB ALVIN KAMARA TENNESSEE - Mixon was gone Starting 3 down back. DL drafted early and often
79: R3P15 DL DALVIN TOMLINSON ALABAMA - Took the best DL on the board. Talented, but not production
86: R3P22 TE GEORGE KITTLE IOWA - Love his size and speed. Has played a little FB too.
120: R4P13 S OBI MELIFONWU UCONN - Tall ballhawking safety with speed and coverage skills to cover slot.
128: R4P21 C PAT ELFLEIN OHIO STATE - Starting C and leader of line that plays with edge.
160: R5P16 LB ALEX ANZALONE FLORIDA - Athlete that has been injured, but could turn into starter if he can stay healthy.
199: R6P15 DL TANZEL SMART TULANE - Productive small school DT. Adds depth.
232: R7P14 OT AVIANTE COLLINS TCU - Practice squad LT. Tall, Quick, but needs to bulk up.

I was thinking about needs. I think LB gets overlooked to a degree.
We have Kendricks and Barr, but Barr is coming off a poor year and is due for a contract. Greenway retired. I like the signings we made last year, but they didn't play. The Vikings really need some of last years picks to step up and this years picks to be solid to or we are going to be worse than 8-8 next year.

Yeah they are very likely to add some players to that position. They also lost Cole who was a nice solid player. Right now they have 5 LBs on their entire roster and other than Kendricks and Barr those guys didn't play hardly at all. Lamur got a decent sized contract last year and started a bunch of games one year under Zimmer asDC but barely got on the field last year. Brothers seems to be a guy that might be your backup middle linebacker if Kendricks gets hurt and Watts and Robinson are young athletes. I'm sure they will be drafting another LB or 2 they have done that over the years. They could easily sign a vet FA to a cheap deal as well at some point.
