I dont see the lakers trading both ingram and ball in a package for butler. They will only trade 1 of them. They will trade both for a anthony davis but not for a butler. I also dont see them committing 38m a year to butler in a new contract nor do I see butler wanting to stay there. So it might not be a good fit for both parties. That said, butler will help get them to the playoffs this year guaranteed and might help get them past the first round, that means something to magic and the lakers so they might explore it.

Kcp salary will be needed to make a butler trade for them. Can kcp be traded though? I will take ingram and kcp and a pick for jimmy.

There is absolutely zero chance the Lakers would trade Ingram in any sort of package for Butler.

Like Walton is likely on the hot seat already and Lebron is about to turn 34. Why haven't we heard from the Lakers yet? To even get in the conversation they would have to include Ingram and Ball just for salalry cap purposes and they would still have to throw in some more players. I'd guess Ingram is pretty close to untouchable but even if he wasn't I doubt they would give him and a bunch of other assets for Butler. If Ingram isn't included do the Lakers have enough to make a deal? Idk. Josh Hart looks like a guy that would be a nice supporting piece and he is cheap. Ball makes a bunch of money and is flawed but he is a pretty big PG and he actually plays defense. Kyle Kuzma can score. He worries me though the way he carries himself at times.

I guess the real point here is that the Lakers are a team that at some point could get in on a Butler deal if this drags out a few more weeks. Even if they don't offer up something super amazing they could still help get offers up. Supposedly people don't want to play with Lebron. I'd guess the Lakers if the price was right the May make an offer to give it a whirl.

Give me Ball, Josh Hart and whatever filler to get it done. I don't need Ingram. We already have too many skinny dudes to add Ingram.

It's noteworthy that Butler put the Clippers on his list, but not the Lakers. That's obviously not an oversight. Maybe he's one of those who doesn't want to play with LeBron. Or maybe he wants to be THE MAN and not play in the shadow of anyone, especially LeBron. Or maybe Butler's agent already made inquiries with the Lakers and learned they had no interest in his client.

I think jimmy dont want to play with lebron. He is a primma donna and egomaniac. He talks about winning but obviously money and being catered to is his top priority. He will never get his way with lebron and magic there.

I'd love to get Josh Hart in a Butler deal. But Lonzo with his daddy would be a disaster here. We could do a deal for Hart starting Dec. 15 when KCP and Beasley could be traded. How about Butler for Hart, Beasley, KCP and the Lakers 2019 first round pick (top 3 protected)? The obvious keys to the deal for Minnesota would be Hart and the pick. KCP and Beasley are just salary fillers. Would the Lakers do that deal? I doubt it, not because it's a bad value for them, but because I don't think they want Jimmy and I don't think Jimmy wants to be there.

Jimmys recent interview.

You played 41 minutes tonight...

That shit has to stop.

Why?

We've got fucking 14 other guys.

It was reported earlier today that 32 (minutes per game) was the number that was agreed on by both sides. Is that the case?

Once again, nobody talked to me about nothing. That's just stuff that's being written. I haven't talked about minutes with nobody. I just go out there and I just play. I get lost in the game, and I want to win, and I don't even realize that it turns into 41. I wouldn't realize if it was 48 because I'm just out there and I'm competing.

But you don't want (the minutes) that high, right?

I just want to win. I'll do whatever it takes, but I want to win. I think that takes care of itself.

I'm just trying to understand. I need to make sure I'm hearing you right.

I know, but 41 minutes whenever I'm winning, I don't give a damn.

But you said that shit has to stop.

Yeah, we've got fucking guys who can play. We've got to instill confidence in everybody. I think my confidence is high enough. I want all my guys to be successful, man. I want all these guys to play. Is that a convo (with Thibodeau) that I've got to have? Yeah, and then everybody wants to talk about how the motherfucker's not healthy [he said of himself]. Well God damn, we're playing 41, 43, 44 (minutes per game), it takes a toll on top of all the work that I do that don't nobody even see. We'll fix it. We'll do something. We'll talk.

(Butler is averaging 36.1 minutes per game -- good for fourth in the NBA -- but has averaged 39 minutes in the past five games; he averaged 36.7 minutes per game last season, which was tied for second).

Are you getting communication from up top about (the trade situation), or are you just letting it unfold.

I talk to the guys in this locker room.

No Thibs, no (general manager) Scott [Layden]?

I talk to the guys in this locker room. I'm out there battling with them.

Do you wish there were more updates? Are you talking to [Timberwolves owner] Glen [Taylor]?

Nope. I don't need to. I don't worry about that. If I'm talking to him, it's 'how we can win a basketball game?' Not nothing else. And since I already know how they're all thinking and how they all want to win, I don't need to talk to them.

Are you surprised you're still here (with the Timberwolves) though?

Am I surprised? No.

Why? Because you know Thibs (and his well-chronicled stubbornness)?

No, because of everything else, man. They want to win. I think everybody's happy in the locker room. We've just got to figure this thing out, man, and go win some games.

Do you have any regrets at this point for the way this has all unfolded?

Hell, no. I don't regret anything. I feel like as soon as we win some games, man...

It's messy, though, right?

For who? For me?

I don't know. It feels messy to me. For everybody.

For who? For me? It can't be for me. I'm going out there and I'm just playing basketball. Everybody thinks it's going to affect me, and -- nah. I've been through way harder shit than somebody saying something. That's for damn sure. Come on, man. I'm not worried about a damn thing, other than getting my body right.

I thought about that tonight. I know you don't like hitting the rewind button on your story, and going back to your childhood, but is part of your attitude on this the idea that you've gone through certain things and something like this can't faze you?

I'm not worried about nothing. I'm going to sleep my nine hours. I'm going to talk to my guys, joke around with Taj on the ride back now, make sure all my guys are good mentally, and figure out a way to win. While I'm here, I want to win. End of story.

You took a lot of flack for "general soreness," and the phrasing of it (when Thibodeau explained Butler's absence against Utah on Oct. 31), and the question of where you were at physically. I feel like there were two camps: One felt like you were full of shit, and then you said it was legit. So going forward, what's the plan in terms of playing? (Butler has missed three games in all during the regular season)

I mean, what y'all want me to point out a body part? If I said that my knee was hurting, is that OK? If I say I've got back spasms, it that OK?

OK, but here's the idea that people have suspected, and I'm trying to be fair and put it in front of you. The whole idea is ... that if you go out there and play 45 (minutes) every night, and win, then what incentive is there for management to move you?

I look at it like this. If everything wasn't going on the way it was going on right now, people are nitpicking. People are nitpicking to find something that I'm doing that they can blow out of proportion.

Jimmy, I hear you, but people are looking for clarity on when you don't play and your motivation for not playing. That's it. Right?

Like, I don't understand what people want me to say. I don't understand. Like, do you want me to say, like, my toe hurts? My calf hurts?

It's more the idea that, is it because you missed (training) camp and it's physical, or is it a strategic approach to your situation to apply pressure to management?

They're not worried about nothing. I'm telling you, this - all of that shit has nothing to do with anything. I'm not fitting to go out there and risk getting hurt. That's (it). There you go. Whenever you hear 'general soreness' or my right quad or whatever it is, I'm not going to go out there and I'm not going to get hurt. That's what it always comes down to. I play hard, man. I do. I think everybody knows that. But I just think that people are going to talk, and that's OK.

I really don't worry about it man. I know where I stand. These guys know where I stand. They see what I do, and to tell you the truth that's all I worry about. Everybody who knows me, and guys in this locker room, if they're OK with everything, or if they've got a problem with me and they come to me, we can talk about it.

Has anyone come to you?

No, because everybody understands. We're all like this (hands clenched together). This is who we are as a group, man. We're going to be just fine. We've got to win some games.

How about you and KAT?

Me and KAT are cool. I ain't got a problem with KAT. Don't nobody got a problem with nobody, I'm telling you. Everything ain't what it seems

I think the Wolves might have to insist on getting a PG of some sort in a trade back because looking at the roster now

Rose won't be back
Teague IF he opts out won't be back

and Jones surely won't be back. Adding to the frustration, this is an awful draft for PG's unless Jaylen Hands plays out of his mind (and someone who I'd target anyway)

The Miami deal if they could ever get it back to Richardson and a first is probably the only way to go and Minnesota's probably botched it, all because this team just HAD to keep trying to force Dieng in a deal like this. Unbelievable.

Next year's team coulda been

C Whiteside
PF Towns
SF Richardson
SG Wiggins
PG Hands

Oh well. Enjoy the empty seats and apathy, Glen.

It's interesting that Butler did this when supposedly this deal was about to go down. The most interesting thing here is Butler complaining about Thibs playing him minutes and that they have other guys. I think that's genuine and I think Burke it's honestly trying to get Thibs attention...of course flat out sitting down instead of playing would work but...he would have gotten killed for that.
