Ya Beasley is done in the NBA. For a guy who works in the mental health field. I really hope he gets the necessary help he needs before he actually hurts someone.

These stories make me sad. Comes from a family where his dad has been in movies. He was a star basketball player who legit could of made a big jump in the NBA. Now it is done.

Just from my experience in the field. I hope he isn't convicted but the Wolves help him get all the mental health necessities to turn his life around. Then maybe then he can return to the court in a year or 2.

For a guy who works with kids in the field, who sees a lot of fucked up shit. Who has to constantly deal with parents who are not all there and me being a huge influence in kids lives because of parents F ups. I hope Malik kid can find a way to cope with this trauma. That Malik and his wife 1st and foremost turn their lives for their kid so their kid doesn't suffer because of their F ups.

Get help Malik! I see it all the time. Get help beat the demons. Let this be rock-bottom. Don't go lower.

It may not be a popular opinion but I'm totally fine giving Culver and Okogie the shot to man the 2. You have to find out at some point if they can do it. There's plenty of veterans that can give us 75-90% of Beasley if we really are looking for that role to be filled on our team.

Personally, I think that's premature based on what we've seen from both Jarrett Culver and Josh Okogie thus far. Also, there are plenty of minutes available at the small forward spot where I expect them both to play plenty -- I could even see Culver starting there to begin the year. But what I think we do need -- whether it be Malik Beasley or Buddy Hield or Luke Kennard, etc. -- is an additional three-point bomber that can at least take pressure off of D'Angelo Russell and Karl-Anthony Towns after doubles and defensive rotations. Someone has to be there knocking down shots. Russell and Towns can create plenty of offense, but the last thing I want to see are open threes being clanked repeatedly.

I think that's right, Cam. However, we also need another ball-handler to take some of the ball-handling pressure off of Russell. Culver looks like he could become our secondary ball-handler, but that's still an unknown and I don't see that potential in Okogie. It's hard to have a lot of confidence in either one as a reliable 3-point shooter. I think Beasley has that potential, but I'm not sure and it probably doesn't matter now. I hate to rehash another past mistake, one reason Tyler Herro would be such a great fit for the Wolves is that he's a really good ball-handler in addition to being an excellent 3-point shooter. I don't know who we could get as a SG to fill both needs.

Im at a point where I want to move on from beasley. I really liked him and what he brought to the team after the trade. I had no idea what a mess up guy he is. I just don't want to be rooting for a guy like that. Right now, Im hoping we could trade him for some value but i don't think any team would touch him at this point.

This suck. I think we would have gotten another 1st round pick but we wanted malik instead in the roco trade. That was looking like a great move until this mess that malik is into now. His has no value now.

The problem with Culver and Okogie at the 3 is you are asking two 6'4 guys to be closing out on shooters who are going to be significantly taller than them. Sure they can stay in front of you if you are trying to get to the bucket but what are the odds of them successfully closing out on guys like Ingles who are 6'8 shooting spot up 3's? What about Brandon Ingram, Kawhi and PG, Wiggins, Lebron, Cam Johnson, Harrison Barnes, Michael Porter Jr, Dillon Brooks, Kyle Anderson among others. Short guys closing out just isn't a recipe for success.

It's a good thing then that Jarrett Culver measures in at 6'6 3/4" in shoes with a wingspan of 6'8 1/4". Josh Okogie is certainly on the shorter side for a three, admittedly, but his 7'0" wingspan could certainly help compensate for that. Neither are perfect options, but I do think they're passable.

I'm not following you with your statement above.

Appreciate the rest of your post and the empathy you show. I guess I'm a bit cynical. We can't pass off all of these sorts of reckless acts as due strictly to mental health, no?

I'm fine starting Culver or Okogie at the 2 or 3. My issue is if you start one of them on the wing, the other wing has to be able to shoot. So if Okogie is our starting 2 or 3, we need a 2 that can shoot (like Beasley). If Culver is our starting 2, we need a 3 that can shoot. We can't start both at the same time.

Thanks for sharing your perspective I was wondering what someone who worked in the field might say. I worked in family services for a year so when I read that latest article I was like ok the previous stuff wasn't a big deal but then the leaving the loaded gun on the floor and additional drugs and drug tests etc...I wouldn't not be surprised if the kid was placed in some sort of protective care for a number of months. I'm not an expert and I don't k on how the system in MN does things.
