My early top 5:
#1: James Wiseman - I think he is as close to a lock as there is in this draft and appears to be a plus player on both ends of the court, along with having superior athleticism.
#2: Devin Vassell - This kid looks like he could be much more than a 3 & D player he's being hyped as. He looks like a top defender and knockdown 3 point shooter, but it looks like he has more to his game. Florida State had a lot of depth/players which I think led to him playing a more limited role on what he was asked to do. Could be a sleeper stud.
#3: Obi Toppin - Game reminiscent of Amare Staudemire. A bit more raw than I would like for his advanced draft age, but has a nice skill set that could give some bounce to our team. Would fit better on the age front with our current core players.
#4: Lamelo Ball - Not completely sold but his creativity makes our best player (Towns) better, good size for the position. Will have a bit of the Rubio effect, and I was a Rubio fan.
#5: Aaron Nesmith - Not the highest upside in the draft, but a smart player with lights out shooting.
I left Anthony Edwards off on purpose, mostly because I think he has a high bust potential. And if he doesn't bust, I think he will more likely become a high volume scorer ala Andrew Wiggins which may get him paid but won't win us a title or help us win actual games. If we draft him, I see excitement coming from his game, and I'll pray he becomes Dwayne Wade 2.0.
