Second night of a back-to-back against the reigning NBA champions and arguably the best player of all-time whilst playing without their best player. This game was a scheduled loss that looked even harder to win after Karl-Anthony Towns was ruled out.

That's still no excuse for how flat and ugly the Wolves have played, but it's one of those "ehh, I get it" type games.

It's a bummer, but I am with Cam, it's hard for me to get down on a game that was more than likely going to be a loss no matter what. This young team is going to take its lumps sometimes as they still have a lot of shit to figure out. Yeah, DLO has been awful. But he needs to have some of these games so he can be shown why he was so awful and fix it next time.

How many times can this team get beat on simple back door cuts and give-and-go's? It feels like Gasol has assisted about 10 of them.

Wait, did I miss MJ coming out of retirement?

If anything it teaches them that nothing is given to you. Tough pill for everyone. The Lakers played like champs and we played like chumps. If we dont smarten up we got a few more tough ones coming up.

Well, this goes to show KAT is easily our most important piece. Not just because he's the best player, but also because of depth reasons.

Nice to see Daniels with contributions on both ends.

Late Night DVR Review:

Cutting right to the chase...

... D. Russell stole Glen Taylor's money tonight. That was the most embarrassing display of "basketball" from an "All Star" in his prime I've ever seen.

It was fucking terrible. I wanted to wait for a full critique on what I think of Russell... I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt.

But he doesn't deserve it. I tuned in when the Wolves were down 21 - 38... between that point and 8:00 left in the 3rd... Russell hit one shot (which was a bad shot) and did ZERO other positive things. Zero. That's not hyperbole. The TOs were alarmingly lazy. The defense was absurdly terrible. There was one play when Russell was guarding Shroder... the PnR began... and Russell ran into the pick. Like literally, he ran into the pick guy's path. Deliberately. Shroeder had a wide open 3. Actually... that's wrong. He didn't "run." He ambled, moseyed, sauntered, walked into the pick.

This team aint winning with Russell as the #2. No chance. No professional worth anything plays that way the 3rd game of the season.

[Note: Russell was a team low (-31) in only 21 minutes.]

Yeah, he had a bad game tonight. He wasn't alone, but he was the worst.

And I am not going to debate whether he can be your #2. Maybe he can't. But I find solace in knowing we have some pretty decent talent that might relieve him of some those #2 responsibilities. (Yeah, the money sucks, but given a choice between paying Wiggins or DLO, I'll take DLO).
