Seeing how deep that team appears to be of decent players... was he sorta ok in that role, too?

Hiring his kid though remains a really dumb career move...

Are you talking about him trading for Austin Rivers?

Yes. I don't think Rivers was a bad player.

But it put a lot of pressure on both of them... unnecessarily. And Rivers couldn't quite shake it even as the kid proved to be serviceable as a player.

Eh I don't see that. You don't do a trade of a guy that wasn't and NBA player plus a 2nd round pick for a guy in Rivers that ended up being worthwhile? So it's just because they were family? I guess the pressure was bad for them the team was winning 50 games and Rivers became a worthwhile player. Sort of seemed like it worked out...unless you want to talk about him getting too much money on that contract he got. Of course a lot of people got paid about that time both on that roster and around the league. If that's Doc's worst move yeah maybe he wasn't so bad after all. I think what is more interesting is how Doc ended up transitioning back to being a coach. Hell they brought in Jerry West. That's a bigtime add. Maybe Doc had absolutely no choice but regardless it's looking like it worked out great for that franchise.

Also did you see that Rivers is a complete Anti-Wiggins? Basically no 2's outside the paint. You gotta check out his shot chart on BB reference.

I'm not talking about on-the-court stuff.

Rivers was lambasted regularly for getting (and paying) his kid.

Sure...the thing is those people ripping the move seemed to be proven wrong. Let's be clear about Austin Rivers before going to the Clippers...he sucked. he was terrible. I thought he was going to be at least kinda good (worthwhile bench guy) at worst coming out of college if not a whole lot more. Nope he was bad. Like he reminded me of Will Avery bad. He wasn't even good at shooting FTs (still isn't which is bizarre). He was 22 and his dad took a chance on him. Sure it was a move worth ripping him on. Like I said though what were the results? It didn't seem to have hurt either guy much. It's not like Rivers was going anywhere (pretty much the opposite) on his previous team.

Dallas hung 74 on Houston in the first half. Crazy year so far.

These old school coaches seem to be having a bit of a resurgence.

Smart trade by the Jazz. Korver fits nice with them.

Lol. Maybe. I love the way the Wolves are playing lately. So right now, I've imposed a moratorium on my own calls for Thibodeau's early departure. If we keep playing like this the rest of the season, even I would keep him as head coach next season. :)

Yeah it's a good deal for them. I think the Cavs did well also getting a couple 2nd rounders. They should play Burks if he is healthy he has shown some flashes here and there. They don't have much to lose.
