Lots of good players out there, plus so many interesting players on expiring deals. Lots of action is still going to happen. Go wolves.

Lip the way the hypothetical deal going past 2 years would work for KBD doesn't have to be more than the vet min it just can't be using the vet min exception because you can only do 2 years with the vet min exemption. So you can pay that same amount of money but not use the exemption but instead use cap space or another exception like the MLE. That's what the Clippers did with both Evans and Thornwell their 2nd round picks last summer. I didn't get the logistics exactly till last week so just hopefully clarifying for you as well. :) regardless this is all some pretty tight money and yet i think the Wolves could end up upgrading their roster via FA market this summer because there are other teams that are gonna run out of money also.

Apparently, the Wolves are pursuing Trevor Booker and Jabari Bird. That's must weird. It makes no sense to sign another big unless he's a rim-protector, which Booker clearly isn't. Meanwhile several teams are pursuing McGee. I know he's goofy, but he's a uber-long rim protector who would fill a Wolves need. As for Jabari Bird? All I can say is that Thibodeau is a genius if he can pull that off. :)

According to Doogie the Wolves pursued Gerald Green. But he choose to stay with the Rockets.

I have yet to read any reports indicating the Wolves' pursuit of any 3-point shooters or rim-protectors. Hmm. It's the disconnect between what Thibs says and what he does. What he does is what he really means. So if you want to know what Thibodeau really thinks about the type of team he wants, just look at the players he's pursued and acquired -- Butler, Gibson, Teague, Rose, Crawford, MGH, Cole Aldrich, and now Trevor Booker and Amir Johnson. Actually, I'm not sure there's a clear pattern here other than the fact that none of these players are known for taking a lot of threes and only one of them, Teague, has shot well from behind the arc over his career. None of these players are known for playing up-tempo offense either and none of them are rim-protectors. I'd like to think all or most of these guys are known for their defense, but Teague, Rose and Crawford have never been known for the defense. Other than his affinity for his favorite former Bulls, I'm not sure what to make of Thibodeau's approach to personnel as PBO.

Jabari Bird also shot a ton of 3s in college, and was shooting 6 3s a game in the G League and hit 43% from 3 for the Celtics (small sample size).

Yeah, difficult to see any pattern in those acquisitions. I guess you might call it "players who can tolerate Thibs is he's willing to overpay them".

I would also argue that even Teague was not considered much of a 3-point threat when we got him...he's averaged making less than 1 three per game throughout his career at a 35.7 percentage.

Are whole Summer League Team is filled with 3pt shooters. We worked out European sniper. We tried to sign Gerald Green. We have contacted J.Bird and Tolliver. We need 3 pt shooting no doubt but the price of 3 pt shooters is at an all time high. I mean Doug Mccdermott is getting paid 7 mil a year for 3 years. We don't have money, plan and simple.

That's right, Monster. The point isn't using the exception. We don't need to use the exception to sign a 2nd round draft pick. My point is that we're likely to pay KBD more than the minimum if we sign him to a multi-year deal. And what we pay him will count towards the total salary that affects whether we exceed the luxury tax threshold.
