He really needs to sue his former agent or something. He turned down a 4/40 extension to just fight for a minimum contract.

Crawford still unsigned though.

Crawford was our first wing off the bench and was given quite a bit of rope to run the offense, yet he wasn't real happy with his minutes. He did us a big favor leaving (only to be replaced by Rose - doh!), but if he truly thought he was going to get more minutes elsewhere, it's not looking too good for him.

There are still likely landing places for Crawford. What will his role be? Hard to say. Maybe he waits for a team to need help because of injury. What Crawford did to help the Wolves by option out was being able to sign a guy like Tolliver. If Crawford didn't opt out we would have been stuck basically handing out vet min salaries to stay under the lux tax.

I'll be curious what the terms of Bazz's deal is. The Bucks have 20 guys on their roster so they will have to cut someone. It's interesting there are fans out there writing articles about Bazz being a good 2nd draft guy with talent even if it's flawed. I do think there could be a place in this league for Bazz but I don't know if I buy him having much upside at this point. It kinda reminds me of Ben Mclemore and his skill set fits the league more but he has done even less than Bazz in terms of actual production.

This is getting into the weeds on stuff but I finally found the discrepancy in my salary cap table that had me with the Wolves with a little more wiggle room under the lux tax. It was Wiggins contract.

I had plugged in $25,250,000 which is what sport trac has him but I believe that was what was estimated based on a previous salary cap guess for this year and therefore slightly off. $25,467,250 is what basketball insiders has as well as hoops hype and the total contract sounds more correct as just under 148 million compared to the sport trac number which is about $146.5 million. Anyway the different between the numbers is $217,250. So the lower number for Nunnally does matter. If they signed 2 vet min deals they would have just $59,390.00 left. I think there is a chance they sign a young player that some other team lets go (if it someone they like quite a bit) for a partially guaranteed deal which could allow them to sign Noah or some other buyout guy before the season started and sign a vet min guy later in the season after cutting the young guy. They still have some money they could sweeten the pot to get someone to training camp Etc.

Anyway some of these moves like stretching Aldrich seems worthwhile now and getting Nunnally for that little bit less also looks good plus signing a one of the young moderately experienced vets like CJ Williams to a 2-way deal that counts zero towards the cap. They had to pay up on a 1 year deal for Tolliver but they did also get Rose for the min. I think they have done a pretty decent job within the constraints of staying under the Lux tax and they could still add a possible useful player. Only time will tell if these moves ultimately work out or not.

Wood is gonna have to really impress to make it based on the Bucks roster. I do think he deserves a shot somewhere so this is a chance.

This is the 2nd offseason where the Bucks have signed a bunch of guys and they don't even keep them all. It's a contrast to the Wolves and I'm not suggesting one approach is actually better than another.

Good one by Zgoda commenting on Shved's offers to come to the NBA. The article with Shved's agent is worth a laugh also.

"Scoop that didn't make podcast episode 171, but I can elaborate on in episode 172 later this week: #Twolves are hosting some recognizable names for free agent workouts this week. Among those here, I am told: Nick Young, Arron Afflalo and Corey Brewer. #AllEyesNorth"

Thibs has his sights on wiggys replacement.

"Chicago Wolves.

No, it's not the latest addition to NBC's all-Chicago Wednesday night lineup, it's what Tom Thibodeau is doing to the Minnesota Timberwolves. He's getting the band back together. He traded for Jimmy Butler (who sources around the league are convinced will not be back with the team next season), added Taj Gibson, and scooped up Derrick Rose.

Soon you can probably add Luol Deng to the list, with Marc Stein of the New York Times and Shams Charnia of The Athletic confirming the rumors.

More workouts reported by Jon K and Wolfson. Some decent moderately interesting fringe names here. Also i'll mention that Cole Aldrich signed a camp deal with the Hawks.

Couple interesting names working out for Wolves today:
Marcus Georges-Hunt
Rashad Vaughn
John Jenkins

Eric Moreland too. For those loyal @KSTP viewers, you knew of Vaughn earlier. Definitely interesting that MGH, who was here, came back for a tryout. #Twolves

If the rumours are true that the wolves want to include dieng in any butler trade, noah wouldnt be the worst option on a 1 year min. deal.
