I'm not totally opposed for trying for overpaying to some quite high quality free agent next summer like Batum or Barnes. I'm just little afraid that if we overpay to someone that has had injury issues (Batum) or someone who has not yet really proven to be good enough for big contract (Barnes), we have a risk to have Pek like untradable contract in future.

Because of that I would rather try to find some players that could be had with bargain contract. It seems that even last year some teams made nice bargain deals even though they were not signing with them discount on purpose to win championship.

For example:
- Jae Crowder 5 years 35 millions is a bargain about quality 3&D wing
- Jeremy Lamb signed 3 years 21 million extension
- Ed Davis signed 3 years 20 million contract
- Patrick Beverley signed 4 years 25 million contract
- Al-Farouq Aminu signed 4 years 30 million contract

So here is my list of players I would consider to going after in summer 2016 with right price (of course I wouldn't go after all of them.) They are listed in some kind of preference order:

Tyler Johnson
- 23 year old 6'4 shooting guard, good shooter and surprisingly good defender
- could play also some backup minutes as point guard
- I would probably offer max three years and 24 million
Ian Mahinmi
- 29 year old 6'11 center that is very good defender although not much of threat in offense
- If KG retires, he could even start next to Towns and Wolves could have very good defensive starting five
Allen Crabbe
- I would probably offer max three years and 30 million
- 23 year old 6'6 shooting guard that Cam was already proposing. Very good shooter that could develop as defender.
- I would probably offer max four years and 36 million
Dwight Powell
- 24 year old 6'11 power forward that has looked quite promising in Dallas
- I would probably offer max four years and 32 million
Mario Chalmers
- 29 year old 6'2 3&D point guard. Could we finally have good backup for Rubio?
- I would probably offer max three years and 24 million
Jared Dudley
- 30 year old 6'6 wing that is good shooter and one of the players that will look always better than what you expect when you look his advanced stats
- I would probably offer max two years and 14 million
Garrett Temple
- 29 year old 6'6 wing that is surprisingly still developing as a shooter, would be probably possible to sign with cheap deal. I admit that his improvement as 3-point shooter might be mainly because of playing with John Wall
- I would probably offer max two years and 6 million

Good list. I think you pick a pair of these guys and offer 2yr/20M and do a team option for second year. Promise them they are starting the first 10/20 games and they can prove they need an extension and more money.

I really like Tyler Johnson/Crabbee/Nicholson. It might really come down to who/where we draft.

With all the money available next year it's going to be a sellers market. Nobody worth going after will need to accept a prove it offer.

If the prove it comes with a 10M a year for 2 years vs 3 years for 18-24M why not? If I am a player I will gamble I will make 30M over 3 years than take 18-24M from another team.

No to Crabbe, Anderson.

The positive thing about Batum is he has legit playmaking/passing abilities for a SF. It is a pretty unique player. Not a star but a nice player.

I admit to being a bargain hunter type. I like those lists. Tyler Johnson is a guy I have liked when I have seen him play. Tough athletic and has some skill.

I'm not just saying his name because of his game last night but maybe Troy Daniels might be a guy that could come really cheap and end up paying off. Turns 25 this summer can shoot the 3 we need those guys. Can he do anything else? I am not sure but I sorta wish we had kept him around last year to find out.

Nic Batum is still No. 1 on my free agent priority list, but I think by that time we might not even need to go sign him. I'm hopeful Brandon Ingram somehow finds his way to Minnesota. Unfortunately, that means more losing is on the horizon.

I am looking forward to seeing more of Ingram. It's both good and bad but I think there will be plenty of losing going forward even if the Wolves keep play as well as they have the last few games which has been encouraging. They are too young and the old guys that help are too old.

Your quote is messed up, I never said that. I don't follow college sports so I don't know squat regarding the players.

How is Ingram's defense though? I get that he's long and gets deflections, but he seems like yet another player that needs years of experience and additional weight before he can play NBA-level defense.

I'm tired of all these one-way players that take years of potty training on the other end - and some never do get out of their diapers!
