David Kahn caused this mess by not giving Love 5 years and by completely butchering every draft pick (except Rubio) he was given. I don't blame Love for wanting to leave....

Shit it could be argued Rubio was a butchered pick. What if we had gone with Curry and DeRozan? We'd look really nice right now. I still believe in Rubio, but he hasn't progressed like I thought he would.

If we had Curry, how much of a difference would it have made. Curry was injured early on in his career, and then Love was out in 2012-13, so we might have made the PO's last season. It really doesn't look like that big of a difference. How much would Steph's offense offset Rubio's defense?

The only big positive I see is closing out games, and I am not sure that is really Curry's specialty either.

I remember Curry's injury problems (ankles). That's why I still believe we would have had our lottery picks the years after where we could have drafted Cousins or George.

A team with Curry, DeRozan, Cousins (I can't say that George was my guy; Boogie was who I wanted) and Love is contending for a championship (at the least WCF).

Curry
DeRozan
Doesn't Matter
Love
Cousins

That's why it's imperative that this next rebuild is done correctly. Attempt #90. Ugh.

I never wanted to move Al, but was a supporter of Cousins more because I didn't want Wes. I think Cousins and Love together would have been a disaster, and I also don't think Derozan would have developed in their shadow. Derozan was another who refused to workout for Minny until the last couple days, and then ended up getting dinged up or sick and didnt' come in for a workout.

I can't help but think that we are here because of injuries to Ricky, Love, Pek, etc.. That isn't something you can account for as a GM the first time around. Signing Pek and Bud to deals after the injury issues have surfaced is something you could avoid.

Take a godfather offer, or keep Love for the final season knowing that at least you cost him a significant amount of guaranteed money.

Your right, screw the rebuild. Let's just make every move out of spite. Wolves can be the scrooge of the NBA

You can't keep rolling along with the broken system, or you can do something in your power to take a stand. If we don't get the godfather offer, you are just setting the rebuild back two years. How much of a difference is there in getting a top 6 or 8 pick this year or getting it next year?

I don't think there's a grandfather offer out there. What Love is actually worth and what the Wolves will get will be way different because of all the drama and his contract situation

Well, that's the difference of having one Marcus Smart or no Marcus Smart, hypothetically. Letting him walk really makes zero sense.

I get what you are saying but that's not totally the case. You are forgetting the possibility (however slight) that the Wolves improve Love stays and there is also the possibilty of a sign and trade where you get something if Love leaves. Also it really depends on the package we get back. If the wolves have to take back salary that limits them to be spenders in FA the next couple years then that might be a negativer factor. Will that cap space be very useful? Probably not but having it locked up with a guy that keeps you mediocre may not do anything either

To me I see Flip maybe actually building this team in a solid fashion. Yep I'm being a homer here but hey let's have some hope. We have seen teams add 2 picks a first and 2nd round that make solid contributions to that team right away. The Wolves aren't just a player away unless they REALLY nail a pick but they aren't like half a roster away like they have been for years. Flip has been on the job for about a year it would be nice to see him get this year to try and build up the team with Love on it for at least the beginning of the season. Who knows maybe he is the right coach for the roster he assembles. If it fails there is at least the trade deadline. Sigh I still care but I'm having a hard time not just checking out till a couple days before the draft to see what happens and who we get.
