So be mad at Jimmy and the organization, but he also needs to realize he had a golden opportunity to take over the team and show we didn't need Jimmy and he failed as that guy. Getting beat by a bunch of 3rd stringers was just icing on the cake. Towns just isn't ready to lead this team and everyone on the team knows it which is why Jimmy is starting tomorrow night and not sitting at home on the couch.

Maybe.

But it was preseason... and a practice. So if we're calling him a failure under those circumstances?

Tough crowd.

I think that just furthers Jimmy's point though. The vets and coaches all said that was the best practice of the year so far. The pre-season games were legitimately all disasters for the starting 5. Teague and Rose did what they wanted and Towns and Wiggins were just bystanders who didn't go get the ball. Everyone just keeps pointing at Thibs, but real stars and leaders go get the ball and lead the team and don't just let the train wrecks happen over and over again. Treating it as just pre-season and just practice isn't a luxury a team missing it's best player who wants out should be taking. That was a chance to show your veteran teammates and coaches that Jimmy was a luxury and he failed. Not taking the opportunity that was available seriously played right into Jimmy's hands.

You are absolutely right to some extent but I also agree with Abe's comment that's it's a tough crowd. I've been hard on Towns for his flaws on offense but Thibs doesn't always feature him. The guy is 23 and everyone here agrees the last few weeks are an absolute shit show and Towns is supposed to be the leader that saves the day? Damn that's a lot to ask.

Still a tough crowd.

Guys who aren't ballhogs get ripped more than the actual ballhogs... because leadership in a preseason game or something.

Ok. I guess.

If the Wolves wanted to heap many millions of dollars on Thibs head in a dual role... and if he's gonna take over my viewing experience with seemingly micromanaging from the sidelines. with his constant bellowing... maybe he can have a say in how the team plays, too? Just a little?

I don't think too many NBA players have seen anything like what's happened in the last week with the Wolves. So to expect them to show off some alpha persona in a preseason game in response seems sorta weird to me. A lot of teams, even teams with veteran NBA leaders, would be struggling with what's going on with this organization right now.

It's all very weird. And I certainly wouldn't come to some rash decision by what we've seen in preseason games or practices in the past week or so...

I'm still hoping Glen isn't dumb enough to let this charade carry into the regular season. Anticipating the possibility there will still be a deal done before tomorrow night. Unlike a lot of you, I can't stand Butler and have no problem winning less games if it means getting rid of him.

I'm very curious to see what the crowd reaction is going to be like if he plays a home game. Most fans on twitter seem to be anti-Jimmy like me. But if the crowd cheers instead of boos him, I think it creates a bigger problem for Glen. He has to feel some sense of urgency to get the trade done. It's hard to see how he and Thibs can possibly co-exist at this point.

If Jimmy plays, I will be cheering for him to get hurt and will relish it when he does.

Towns will make more money next season than Thibs would make if he stayed for the next 3 years. If this is a player's league then they need to be accountable and stop having blame pushed to their coach or their organization for their shortcomings.

If I were at the game I'd boo loudly, the entire team. Taj and Dieng may be the only truly likable guys on the team.

Sure. But I don't think we're talking about Teflon Kevin here. I guess I'm not seeing people giving Towns the same pass you may be.

I've heard A LOT of criticism about Towns... nationally... and from Butler.

I've heard no response from the Wolves with anything positive. I'd say that's a pretty good sign that the kid gloves are off. Heck, things are so bad with Towns that he's getting grouped in with Wiggins dozens upon dozens of times almost like they're interchangeable.

Nothing from their on-court success... and growth... should suggest such a comparison is legit.

Not sure how Tolliver and Okogie don't make the list either.

Yes, lots of candidates for the boo birds, with Butler, Thibs, and Taylor all deserving of the crowd's ire.

Luckily KAT got that restraining order approved against Khansy, otherwise he'd get booed too.

Cool, Ihave the same sentiments, but I am happy to wait on the trade until we get what we want. Jrich and Adebayo as a minimum, and if we take on a bad deal like Waiters I would want a first with very little protection as well.

SP, you can take Gorgui off of my list. He was getting a little mouthy to a local guy because he brought up what it would take to move Diengs deal. Maybe if Gorgui played better teams would be willing to take him on.
