Uh Oh. A bad day for OKC fans just got worse.

You wont see an extension because it is based on the lower salary. It doesn't reset to the larger cap number. He has to opt out first, and then re-sign to get the bigger dollars. It really doesn't say anything about his intentions.

OK. Well, some of the sportswriters are painting a dire picture in which OKC needs to trade Westbrook now. Westbrook may be fine reupping in OKC. The fear for OKC is the Lakers with all their capspace will swoop him up next year for nothing.

They have to trade him now. Get something for him while they can.

Zaza goes to GS for cheap which is big because they are about to have nobody at C.

Durant leaving OKC is bad news for every fan including us Wolves fans that are watching something special build here.

Durant had the right to do this but I am not happy about it. Until I hear some reasons to think another way I am actively cheering for him and GS to do poorly.

Man I just feel bad for OKC. Unless something magical happens Westbrook is gone. The only good thing is they do have some nice young talent and maybe they can makes a deal to send Wesbrook for something to return. I wonder if they looks to move Kanter at some point also.

Build around Oladipo and Adams. Trade Westbrook to LA or Boston. Both have a ton to offer. Both need a superstar.

I'll add I almost forgot OKC has a young Pg in Cameron Payne and it sounded like he was playing fairly well before they decided to go with a vet. Presti is good.

I trade Westbrook yesterday to the Celtics for Jaylen Brown, Marcus Smart, the best 1st round pick in the stable unprotected and salary filler if needed. Get him out of the West and make the East stronger with a Westbrook/Horford Boston team so you don't have to play him nearly as much.

Absolutely shocked. OKC were building something special and I think the addition of Oladipo and added front court depth would have helped them take the next step.

I'm not sure they need to hit the panic button yet and trade Westbrook. He might actually flourish being alpha dog. Will be hard to fill that void at SF though.

They're done if Westbrook leaves for nothing in the off season. That would be both franchise cornerstones gone for nothing. I wouldn't dump him obviously, but you need to get back some assets you can start another rebuild with. If LA offers Ingram and Russell you do it, but they have to be the frontrunners to sign him so I just don't know why they would trade their two best assets when they can keep them and sign him in the off season. Boston would be a logical second choice for assets that you can rebuild with and you'd have the benefit of moving him to the East where you won't to play him but twice a year.

Good for Golden State and for us.

I don't feel bad for OKC because nobody would feel bad for us if this were us. I can't worry about KD and the Warriors. They're not in the way of our title chances. We can't even make the playoffs yet. OKC on the other hand, if they fall apart, that's one spot that could be up for grabs. That's what we need to be worried about, NOT Golden State.

I can totally understand why a guy like Kevin Love jumped ship, he was never going to get it done being the man anyway, not even close. But OKC was knocking on the door, they had GS beat and I think they had a great chance against the Cavs. For KD not to come back and give it one more year with Russ and some nice additions makes me think either A) KD and Russ had a rougher relationship than it appeared, or B) KD is just happy to take the easy road to the Ship, which surprises me. He always seemed like a loyal guy who would see things through at OKC (which was only one more year anyway).
