So is Bledsoe's agent sending Flip a thank you card? Lol Seems like a reasonable deal for both sides could end up looking good if Bledsoe stays healthy and improves even slightly over last year.

Flip should have Rubio's agent by the balls now, in my opinion. I'd offer Ricky four-year, $40M right before the season started and if his agent + Ricky declined, he can test the FA pool next summer. Nobody's going to offer him a huge deal.

I am confused by the 5 year deal. I thought rookie extensions could only be for another 4 years unless they made him the designated player. My only guess is that since his contract was up, it isn't considered an extension anymore and so it isn't bound by the same rules. Larry Coon's website states that the designated player contract is for max dollars and 7.5% raises each year, so they clearly didn't designate him.

It seems like a trivial difference (signing one year earlier) to have repercussions for five years into the future with only one player being able to hold the designation. This must be why Pek was able to get the 5 year deal as well. I'm guessing that Flip doesn't cave on giving Rubio five years this season, if that is the difference.

I just don't get it. Bledsoe....Thomas....Dragic....Ennis...the other Dragic....this is a very strange team they are assembling. Are they planning to leave NBA and play in 6' and under league?

Good question. Dragic's are at least a little taller at 6'3" or 6'5". It is amazing how many games they won last year with such a subpar group of bigs.
