only saving grace tonight is that Shannon got to see the ball go in the basket regularly.
I genuinely didn't understand why Shannon wasn't in this game much earlier. He proved in the playoffs that he could defend LD and AR, and score on them. We are obsessed with players we "trust" (I trust that it isn't working...and there's 100% something broken in the Chem dept!)
Huh???? TSJ played a grand total of 12 minutes in 3 games against the lakers in the playoffs last year and shot 1-3 in the series.
TSJ has been statistically one of the worst players in the nba this year. Happy he played well tonight hope he figures it out but outside of the OKC series in the playoffs last year he has been a bad nba player in general

I fell asleep just like the team did in the first half. I knew we'd blow this game though and didn't try to stay up.
This team is so hard to root for when we are 50% engaged.

I think you're overstating bad. I clearly remember regular season games last year where he came in and scored double digits in 10 minutes or so, even a handful. I would say he was bad defensively. For sure.
My hope going into this year would be he keeps his elite level of slash and score at the rim, add a point or two to his 3P % and up his D. However he has been incredibly bad this season, no doubt.

Just finished the replay. Very frustrating, because while I hadn't seen the Lakers' final score, I accidently saw on my phone that the Wolves finished with 106. So I was optimistic when the Lakers only scored 16 in the first quarter knowing they needed to get to 107 (even though I didn't think our defense was very good...just thought the Lakers couldn't shoot). Still felt confident at the half, because I didn't see the Lakers scoring more than 60 in the second half. But our defense continued to suck in the third quarter, but now the Lakers were making their shots. I gave up, and didn't watch the 4th quarter.
So many things were bad in this game. Our starters made 4 out of 26 treys with Donte the leader with his 2 for 6. Rudy was totally outplayed by Ayton...one of my least favorite players in the league. Ant and Ju dribbled FAR too much, and we're not going to win many games when our top assist guy Ju only gets 2. The bench wasn't as bad as the starters, but still not very good. Ayo was 6 for 8 and played hard as usual, but his paltry "do shit" stats seems to be the reason that we almost always get outscored when he is out there...he has to have more than 2 rebounds and 1 assist in 20 minutes. Naz showed some nifty post moves and made 5 out of 6 2-pointers, but his 3-point shooting continues to be a big problem...he's under 30% in his past 10 games. SloMo was by far our best player tonight, and Finchy should have played him more than 15 minutes...our offense only looked okay when he was out there.
I still like this team, but as I documented in the "playoff predictor" thread, I've seen us destined for 6th place for a while. The silver lining is I have them playing Denver, and I would like our chances in that matchup. A win tonight against the Clips would make us all feel a lot better.

A couple of super frustrating things about this loss:
Not only were we coming off a lackluster loss to the Magic, we had an extra day off to address little things that needed cleaning up. It doesn't look like anything was cleaned up.
Rudy, once again, is quoted as saying they need to stick to the game plan and run the offense. That is a clear dig at both ANT and Ju.
We now know that Finch doesn't believe in taking main guys out if they are sucking -- he lets them play through it and addresses it the next day in a film session. Yet, he was lamenting how terrible our offense was in his post game presser, and that it starts with ANT and Ju not worrying about themselves.
I can't say I have much confidence heading into the Clipper's game tonight...

Worst moment of the game for me? Second quarter, a defensive rebound lands between Ju and Ant...either one could take one step and corral it, but they let a Laker get it from 5 feet away.. I'm thinking that they are both thinking "you get it...I'm saving myself for offense."

You were right, I was wrong. Once again when I got too optimistic this team lets me down. I think they are 100% on that stat and effect. We cannot finish 3rd anymore and we will be lucky to be 6th.
