I'm interested in thoughts here but I will say that my time is worth something and up to this point the amount I've had to pay in the fees is pretty minimal since my portfolio has been small. I like the idea of watching for trends (used to LOVE the stock trading fantasy sports games and did very well) and all that but it also seems to do it right I would have to do some real research. Why I don't do that instead of some of the other stuff I spend time doing idk but yeah. At my current job the guy I was set up told me I should roll my old 401k into a ROTH account. I had some other financial decisions to figure out at the time so I haven't got around to really deciding if it's worth it but the guys seemed like he wasn't a moron.
My wife has a nice chunk of money at this point and I have tried to encourage her to meet with someone to discuss her options but she hasn't really gotten around to it and it seems the in person support that used to be in place has changed and the feedback has been meh.
My strategy for retirement is to slowly learn to live on nothing. Lol
Thoughts? Chiding? Pull out your soap box it's fine with me. Lol

We would be reaching for him at #5 but he intrigues me in terms of need and fit for the Wolves.
Not really familiar with him, but why do you like him over Deyonta Davis (for example)?
I don't watch college basketball at all and am just now going through Draft Express looking at some of these guys.
From what I understand Davis also sounds like a really solid player for what the Wolves need
What intrigues me about Chriss is how he just started playing the game seriously like 4 years ago and how damn athletic he is. I know his rebounding and defense are pretty trash right now but if Thibs thinks he can fix that stuff and if he shows the drive to improve I think he could be a big time homerun swing. Oh and he can shoot from range.
But like I said, I have zero knowledge of college prospects and am leaning on the board and DX for education

Not going to go back and read all this stuff. I'm lazy. And I'm not a big draft guy. But, I just wanted to use this space to make two official "I told you so" comments. (because that's what we do sometimes)
- The Wolves WILL trade the #5 pick for a veteran player.
- I have a crush on D. Sabonis. I think he's going to be a legit NBA player.

There are basically 2 things I think this board agrees on.
1. We are all Timberwolves fans and want them to do well.
2. We like Sabonis.

I like a lot of guys better than Sabonis, but if he's falls like Portis did last year into the 20s, he might be interesting, but that is only if my draftcrushes Denzel Valentine, Wade Baldwin and Patrick McCaw are already off the board.

Monter, You and your wife should visit the Bogleheads site. There is some very sage advice here and it's really not time-consuming at all to set up a fairly simple portfolio if your wife has a chunk of money she's trying to figure out what to do with.
I like your strategy for retirement! Simple living certainly helps keep those costs down! (League Pass Broadband on the other hand doesn't!).

Abe - That makes two of us with a man-crush on Sabonis.
If I had to bet, I'd bet we trade the pick for a vet, but I wouldn't bet a lot. I'll go with Zgoda's weasel approach and say "better than 50-50." I like that you've stepped up and simply declared that it's going to happen - 100% certainty.

Thanks for the site I'll check it out.
As for league pass...we have never had Cable or satellite so that makes me feel less bad about spending money on it. I probably spend less money watching and attending sports than my wife does on going to see musicals. Lol She is obsessed with "Hamilton" right now but who knows when she will be able to see it.

So now you all like Sabonnis? Great. Thanks for all the criticism when I originally brought it up.

There has been a number of us saying her would be a good fit here. It seems like 5 would be to early and we could get some value trading down and still getting him. I would be interested in trading down no latter then 10 and picking up a pick or young player from the last 2 drafts.
