There has been a number of us saying her would be a good fit here. It seems like 5 would be to early and we could get some value trading down and still getting him. I would be interested in trading down no latter then 10 and picking up a pick or young player from the last 2 drafts.

So the Wolves are going to go from a team with questionable player personnel skills to friggin' Red Auerbach in 12 months? How about just not blowing it? If you think Sabonnis is the guy, then you should be in favor of them drafting him at #5. Period. End of sentence. These "trade down" games sometimes blow up in the team's faces.

I really like Deyonte Davis for us. He is raw, but has the tools to be a great rebounder and defender. He has a nice shooting stroke as well. Like I said he is raw, but I'm very intrigued by the prospects of drafting him and pairing him with Towns.

I agree about Davis TRKO. Haven't seen him much but he seems to have the high upside and skills to really fit playing along side KAT. I have no problem taking a guy with high upside and waiting a couple years.

Would the Bulls do Portis and 14th pick for our 5th?

Yes. They would. Isiah Thomas would do that move.

Ok. He's 21. He only plays about 27% of their minutes. Those minutes are spread evenly between the 4 and the 5. He is ok at the 4 and bad at the 5, just like every other MIN post other than Pek. Not a great player, not a great fit.

And why wouldn't you want CHI to take Payne in the deal?

I am really hoping Murray falls to us at 5.

Yeah, he definitely is intriguing from a fit perspective in that he could do a lot of the dirty work in terms of getting boards and blocks in the paint, without having to score a bunch. But....it will take a few years.

I could see us trading down for him with a team that really wants Dunn or Murray and land another asset, like a future protected 1st or a couple 2nds.

The trade down gamble can blow up in your face, but so can simply staying put and picking a player. Many on this board want to see a Vet for the pick, while others would prefer to trade down for 2 picks or a lesser vet/pick. I'm leaning towards looking to gain a good vet type while trading down a few picks. Unfortunately, the wolves didn't gain a top 2 pick, but we still sit in a good position at #5 for drafting a player or trading out. The Kings, Pelicans, Nuggets and Bucks all fall close behind in the draft order, and all have a use for the same prospects in the 3-7 range. The prospects in that range are Bender, Murray, Hield, Brown, and Dunn. I would wager Bender goes #3 to either Celtics or Philly, and Brown goes #4 to the Suns. That would leave us with Murray, Dunn, and Hield at #5. Pick or Trade.

The Kings @ #8 would be my trade target. The Bucks at #10 would be an option, though I don't see the veteran we could get there.

Kings: Dunn, Hield, and Murray would all fill huge needs for them. They lack a consistent threat at PG, and Rondo nor Collison is the future there. Dunn would fill the need immediately and for the future. The defensive ability alone would go a long way to help him turn that team around on that end. On the other hand, Hield and Murray would provide great spacing for that team, and fill the role they have been hoping McLemore would fill.

Bucks: They have a lot of talent, and look to have given the Freak the PG position. Covington is a oversized SG, Parker at PF, and Henson/Monroe at C. Their biggest need is shooting/spacing, and the Freak allows them to target a PG/SG that can spot up/run off screens on offense while being a second ball handler and guard the PG on defense as the Freak can switch down to guard really any position 1-4. I couldn't imagine a better fit for Murray or Hield than the Bucks.

On draft day I'd make a call to both of them and see the interest.

#5 for #8 and one of Omri Casspi/Marco Bellinelli?

That trade isnt for a great player, but they would be great off the bench for us. I don't see any of Dunn,Hield, or Murray being clear above any of the other prospects between #3 and #12. Coming out with a Casspi and Sabonis/Chriss/Davis at #8 would be great. We would add 3pt shooting and vet play with Casspi or Bellinelli, and a top Big prospect at #8. If Flip was here, i'd have more confidence that he would nail the pick, but as he is not, I would prefer that we obtain some sort of proven positive contributor while still retaining a shot at a draft prospect.

....and they take back Payne.
