Here is what I see as an excellent article on the Vikings collapse which leans heavily on the line.

If you want to criticize the general manager for not being able to predict the injuries, you are being irrational. If you want to criticize him for not being better prepared for those injuries, you're still being irrational. Spielman built this team so that it was strong on the defensive side and just good enough on the offensive side. He had limited equity to invest and decided to create a dominant defense before focusing on the offense. That plan worked. The defense is dominant. The franchise is now in position to focus on building on the offensive side as its young, dominant defense continues to grow together. Losing next year's first-round pick won't derail the direction of the franchise. It hurts, but the risk quite clearly outweighed the reward.

There's nothing irrational about ripping Spielman's approach to the offensive line. Spend a little bit on a bunch of guys and draft after the 3rd round and hope something sticks. Injuries happen. The fact that Clemmings was still the backup plan at either tackle position is indefensible.

Yes. We were all waiting breathlessly for our monthly "Why don't these teams just hire Khans already?" post about how he knows more than {Insert GM here}. Kalil was the 4th pick and only brought back because Sparano begged to get him back. Smith and Long were top 5 picks. You like Alex Boone? Undrafted free agent.

Spielmann has a checkered past when it comes to rounds 1-3, but I have ZERO recollection of you staking your claim THAT DAY.

With all these "Winning good, losing bad" posts, has anyone ever sent you Mike Lupica's check by accident?

This Vikings board didn't even exist when we drafted Kalil for fuck sake. Tell me how I could have staked my claim that day on something that didn't exist yet? You should double check your work before you post something so fucking stupid. Why don't you post something actually productive for once instead of attacking yet another poster out of the blue while adding nothing to the conversation? I'm dying to hear JasonisDaFuckingMoron's opinion for a change rather than another shit talking post. I was all over them this off-season for how poor this plan was for the line. Don't talk to me like I'm like I'm a fair weather fan. I wouldn't be here if I was.

It seems like as bad as this line has been there have been some positives. Easton seems to have stepped in and been pretty solid at least at C. Sirles seems to be at worst a legit solid depth guy that can play 3 spots along the line. I didn't pay close attention but how did Kerin do in relief of Fusco? I know the bar is low for some of these guys aside from Berger at the C spot. At least they were able to protect Bradford for the most part in this game.

I found the article on Boone interesting when Boone said Clemmings was a technique guy and Boone was trying to get him to cut loose. I wouldn't have guessed that based on the draft profile etc.

Boone, Berger, Sirles, Kerin, and Easton seem like keepers to me for next year. I would try and sign Kalil back on a 5M contract with team option for year 2. The rest I would let go unless we think Clemmings can play guard because he has proven he can't play tackle.

Interesting read. I don't agree with it all but the author lays out some good info I think.

Good info. No interest in bringing Andre Smith back I would rather have Sirles or Kerin playing RT. I would be interested in trading for Staley.
