Brogdon is overrated. It's an easy life playing off the ball next to the MVP than be the guy who runs the show. Middleton is for sure the better player of the two and he's also their closer. Brogdon was a great fit next to them, but put him as the lead ball handler and I don't think he's better than either Giannis or Middleton with that much responsibility. The Bucks picked the right guy. Brogdon is solid, but Middleton is a legit All-Star.

Then the Pacers grossly overpaid for Brogdan. And that's a bad sign for what the Wolves will need to give up in a sign-and-trade for Russell.

Maybe the Wolves can just clear space and sign Russell. Is there a team with cap room that would take Teague and Gorgui plus a future lottery-protected 1st and two future 2nd round picks? The Knicks? Maybe they'd like a veteran PG to mentor Dennis Smith Jr. and the other young players. And Gorgui would probably be an upgrade for the Knicks at Center or PF. The Lakers? They need a PG and it would seem a veteran PG with playoff experience like Teague would fit their win-now situation. Gorgui would add much-needed depth to a team that's pretty thin. The Lakers could use some future draft picks after trading away so many future picks for AD. We'd probably have to take some salary back for the deal to work. Not sure who that would be.

I think Brogdon fits in Indiana with Oladipo as the main guy. My point is Brogdon can't be the primary ball handler on a team and he can keep playing the same role in Indiana as Milwaukee. He's a 3 and D PG with some playmaking skills, but he's not a big time creator. Just like George Hill was a perfect fit back in his Spurs days Brogdon got to be the 3rd wheel in Milwaukee and benefit greatly from that role. Brogdon is solid, but I wouldn't want him to be our lead ball handler. He is properly paid in the right role and Middleton may be a slight overpay though not much of one, but that just doesn't make Brogdon a better player than Khris which was my point. Middleton is the new NBA model player. 6'8 can handle the ball, shoot 3's, create shots and defend at a high level. He's just far more versatile than Malcolm and that costs a premium in this league.

No argument from me. I'd agree Middleton is slightly better than Brogdon. But if I were the Bucks, I would have kept both.

The Bucks getting Middleton for less than a max ain't too shabby. They picked him and to some extent George Hill over him but they also got a 1st and 2nd round pick. If they nail one of those picks that will be big. Losing brogdon hurts though.

You're right that the Bucks did well with the Middleton deal. I know it's not my money, but when you're in the Bucks' situation coming off having the best season in the NBA and definitely a title contender, you re-sign both Middleton and Brogdon. If they had to make a choice, they should have let Lopez go.
