Give Orlando their due. I know that on paper that team doesn't look sexy, but Skiles has really coached those guys up. Payton really impresses me. He might be one of the three best defensive point guards I've seen - I mean right up there with Ricky Rubio (when healthy) and Eric Bledsoe. That guy just sticks to people.

Orlando's current team is exactly a scott skiles type of team. i say they make a very good coaching hire in skiles. The coach and the team fits.

Right, good enough to may be snag a playoff spot, but never good enough to get much further than the first round or two. His pattern is a) improvement in Year 1, b) peak in Year 2, and then c) team tails off and he wears out his welcome. You can only squeeze so much out of a group of guys when you aren't blessed with elite talent. They eventually buckle.

So Orlando can expect two seasons of gritty, competitive basketball and then who knows after that.

That is indeed skiles. But i still think its a very good hire for them. You have to teach the young guys how to win and develop them and see how good they can be. Skiles is very good at that.

Ricky has a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. In years past he never got the blame for losses cuz he was either hurt or his teammates were terrible . BUT now he can be hurt and come back and have better players shoulder the blame for all the losses. He really has been blessed .

How's that for going full on Pork chop?

Well I'm reading if Wiggins did this or that or the other.. nothing bout Ricky shooting blanks again or Elfrid going right by him in the clutch.. Or the whole game in their last match up for that matter..

These are the game you need to win if you actually are the real deal about competing for a playoff spot. Or better yet you can't suck as bad as this team does at home to have any shot at sniffing the playoffs when it's all set and done.

Couldn't catch the game, 2 questions.

Did Lavine and Ricky play together at all? and did KAT get a single minute in the 4th quarter? (not holding my breath considering even when he was playing well sam didn't put him in, so when he put up the stat line he did today i'd be shocked if he got in 30 seconds).

Just finished watching the game.

The offense wasn't very good in the first half and the energy wasn't there but the Wolves also just couldn't buy a basket.

Towns really struggled. Guys are less likely to leave him as wide open for those long jumpers. He needs to shoot them with more confidence or move the ball. He has been rattled the last couple games.

I spent a lot of the game watching Martinand Bazz play D. Martin is actually pretty good chasing guys around that use screens to get open off the ball. He did get burned a couple times but there were times he didn't get help and Founier got into the paint. I have been watching Martin the last few games and I think people should quite absolutely assuming he completely blows at defense. On the offensive end he was more of the Martin we were used to seeing in the past. He picked his spots passed etc. this was a pretty good all around game for him.

Bazz put in the work on D in this game. His team D was better and when he is straight up guarding a guy he does fine. When he has to chase guys around screens that's when he tends to get in trouble. VO was actually a better matchup for him than Fournier (who had just 12 efficient points) but either way Bazz was fine defensively. He gave the wolves a nice lift in the 2nd half.

Dieng was terrific.

Rubio plays with passion and desire to win. He and Payton are pretty similar players it was kind of a fun ugly battle between them.

Lavine wasn't as good tonight but when I think about he was fine he has just been so terrific lately I expect more.

Wiggins was terrific on both ends.

KG still has some game. That one block He had early I couldn't believe he got there.

Ultimately it was a disappointing loss because there was such a big stretch of this game where it was terrible to watch as a wolves fan. I knew it was close because I was playing ball tonight and one of the guys is a big Orlando fan and he was watching the end. So I knew when it was bad I figured they would come back. It's great they did come back but yuck they squandered so many opportunities all throughout the game. I didnt like the final play either I would draw it up for Lavine no question. I blame the players or weird bounces that they couldn't come up with for this loss though.

One last thing. The Wolves got tonthevline 38 times and after struggling early they ended up hitting 31 of them for 81%. That's crazy and it was the reason the Wolves had a shot to win this game.
