Certainly the most compelling rumor yet, in light of all the space clearing moves the Cavs have made.

Now it's a question of who we get back, and whether we include any bad contracts in the deal. And how they make the numbers work. If we include any bad contracts in the deal, Cleveland has to add more pieces in return to make the numbers work. And the Wolves only have room on the roster for one more player. So Flip needs to create some roster space too.

Now, as for the return pieces. I think most of us are excited about Wiggins' upside, and are happy he is in the deal. Maybe he doesn't make big contributions this year, and there are lingering questions about his intensity, but he does seem to have star potential. The board isn't unanimous about Thompson, but I think he needs to be in the deal, and he immediately becomes our starting PF. Good rebounder, very good defense and efficient inside scorer, but he is clearly a big offensive drop off from Love. The board is more divided about Waiters, with more of us carrying an unfavorable opinion. But I think he has to be included to make the numbers work. And if we add another piece, say Bud, then Bennett needs to be included too to make the numbers work.

So, I guess I am looking at this deal: Love and Budinger, for Wiggins, Thompson, Waiters and Bennett. That puts 16 players on our roster, so hopefully Flip has another deal in place to unload Barea.

It's going to be an interesting day.

I've said before I'm not sold on Wiggins and it would be interesting to see what else the Cavs give up to match salary for Love. I need something besides Wiggins. I'd like to know how Flip feels about Wiggins. If we made that trade we would have like 30 million wing players. Lol

Edit: also it seems like the Cavs are all in so who knows what they are willing to give up to get this deal for Love done.

Thompson Waiters Wiggins Bennett Hopson (cut) Gee (cut) for Love Martin

Rubio Lavine
Waiters Lavine
Wiggins Bennett
Thompson Bennett
Pek Dieng

A Rubio Lavine Wiggins Dieng core has me drooling.

Gee has been traded (not official yet) for Brandon Hayward but if the Cavs really want to give up that kind of talent for Love no way I say no. I think if I was Lebron I wouldn't be happy about trading away basically all the young talent on the team but of course Kyrie and Love being young studs sounds pretty good.

Bennett wouldn't play any small forward for me. Wiggins, Robinson and Muhammad all come before him. As would Brewer.

I think he has potential personally. That being said he shouldn't be the backup, I meant to put Bazz there.

Bennett thinks of himself as a PF, and even though his height is substandard for the position, his 7-1 wingspan is equal to Thompson's...and 2 inches more than Love and Blake Griffin. He was a stretch 4 in college, and that's his best position in the NBA. I'd like to see him backing up Tristan Thompson, allowing us to release DC.

I still prefer including Bud over Martin in the deal. I want to think of Wiggins as a SG, but the experts are divided about whether he will work out there. That leaves us with a glut of SFs, and I'd rather have Martin as instant offense backing up Waiters.

I would prefer keeping Martin too, but I don't think there is any way Waiters would start over Martin at least not right away. In fact I doubt any of the Cleveland guys would start except whoever we got to play the 4.
