Crowning Dunn after one Vegas game is a bit premature. Tyreke Evans was 20-5-5 for his rookie year and where's he now? It's not like he was devastated by injuries. In fact Evans has quite a few similarities to Dunn.

So in a game where he goes 10/18 from the field and 1/2 from 3, his shot seems less reliable than a career 37% shooter. Come on. Ricky is one of the worst shooters of all time and Dunn is acceptable, but not great. Everyone needs to get off the Dunn is a bad jump shooter train. He's serviceable which is more than Ricky ever has been or will be. Stop comparing their shots. It's not close. Ricky is horrible. Also, Dunn created two wide open corner three's in the first couple possessions of the game last night as a result of his vision and dribble penetration. That's what modern NBA playmaking is. You penetrate the defense and if the shot isn't there you dish it to the open guy. You're not supposed to penetrate the defense looking for the pass. You're supposed to look for the easy bucket first and then pass out of it if it isn't there. If Ricky was playing last night we would have been destroyed because nobody was hitting the open looks Tyus and Dunn got people. Dunn is the reason that was a game because he of the 27 points he scored efficiently. Ricky can't do that and that's why Dunn has the potential to be a better option at PG in the future. Dunn made plenty of plays last night that weren't converted. He's a different player than Ricky so let's stop comparing him to Ricky.

Ricky would have been "destroyed" by some d-leaguers last night? Is that what you're really saying?

Our team would have been destroyed because everyone he would pass to would miss their shots like they did last night. An elite passer doesn't contribute much to winning if the guys he passes to don't make their shots. Add to that Ricky isn't putting up 27 points in pretty much any game and we would have been destroyed.

Oh I see, WE would have been destroyed because you know for sure that Ricky wouldn't have been able to score like Dunn last night. Got it.

Read the quote next time troll. I literally said "we" would get destroyed the first go around. I never said Ricky would get destroyed. And I do know Ricky can't score like that. Anyone who watches Ricky knows he can't score like that. Get over it. It's not happening. Playing against D-League competition doesn't all of a sudden make him a great finisher and jump shooter.

Ha, I hope nobody is making any decisions about players after one game. But it sure is fun to share observations about players we don't know much about yet. Of course Dunn is no Rubio, and it's unfair to even compare them...and the idea of installing Dun as a starting PG is preposterous. In a game like last night, Rubio would have created 10-15 easy baskets for teammates...I only recall Dunn creating 1 easy look. And while Dunn showed himself to be an exciting, disruptive defender, he also bit on a couple silly fakes and fouled far too much. He was certainly impressive on defense last night, but he's not in Ricky's class defensively yet and shouldn't be expected to be.

All that said, it was an impressive first night for Dunn...I'm eagerly looking forward to the next one on Sunday!

It was definitely a joke but just fun to share as you said.

This was the first full game I've seen of Dunn and there were a lot of comparisons to Rubio in terms of them having a similar game so I was just commenting on that, not that it's fair to compare at this stage.

I'm talking about actual jump shots, not layups. I didn't keep count but he was like 3/9 on actual shots and only 60% from the line. He did score efficiently overall and if he can get to the rim that easily against actual NBA interior defense that's great, it would seem unlikely though. Your definition of play making is laughable, saying you need to look for your shot first makes zero sense and would result in pretty selfish basketball. GS is a great example of this, when that team was really going during the season they were making plays for others by passing up easy shots for teammates to hit easier shots.

Again I'm not the one who made the original comparison, just commenting on it since I finally had a chance to watch a complete game.

My definition of playmaking is what a majority of the league does in today's game. Ricky's style of play at the point is significantly outnumbered by the rest of the league. Lebron, Westbrook, Lillard, Kyrie, Lowry and on and on. All guys who attack the basket to score and dish the ball when a shot opens up as a result of their attacking. They don't attack the basket to open up passing lanes because you don't know how the defense will rotate until you are already driving the lane. You drive to score and then pass if it opens up.

Oh nice, now I'm a troll because I called you out on your ridiculous assumption. You're pointing out 1 game, anybody, even Ricky, could score 27 against the D league.. And it would be great if Dunn turns out to be the better of the 2 overall, but let's simmer down..simmer down now...1 game...

This Rubio/Dunn stuff is like a QB controversy. The only thing is both of them will give us minutes. We'll need both.

Just because other players (majority of the league) have a score first mentality doesn't mean someone can't make plays by passing the ball. I don't think Rubio necessarily drives to pass or score, he drives to change angles and move defenders around, most of the time he does pass but that makes sense as he is the best at it. Unlike these score first guys his passing keeps everyone involved and that's one reason the team plays better with him than without.

The Rubio-Dunn debate is ridiculous and boring. Rubio is a good starting NBA PG. Dunn is a college PG who aspires to be a good NBA PG. I like Dunn's potential, but neither his college stats nor anything I've seen from him on the court blow me away. Ideally both Ricky and Dunn will get a lot of minutes and contribute positively to a 40+ win season and playoff birth. If we believe draft night reports, Thibs was apparently anxious to trade both Rick and Dunn for Butler. Makes you wonder about how much Thibs values either one. But I like both of them and look forward to seeing both on the court together and separately.
