The one negative I see is that a team with questionable ball movement really didn't get anything back on that end. Covington can't create for himself or others. Saric isn't creating off the dribble. Wiggins is terrible passing the ball. Teague is meh. KAT is a center. There's very few guys on the squad to break down a defense.
So I expect the offense to be a bit of a slog.
More Derrick Rose I guess, especially in Thibs' offense. Yikes.

We also needed a defensive athletic big next to KAT. We got neither and no first round pick. Honestly don't know why this was approved by taylor.
Absolutely right, SJM. The fit is terrible. And there's little upside.

After this trade, who are the odd men out?
Tyus?
Okogie?
Tolliver?

I'd be fine with them moving Tyus for a pick. He just doesn't do anything well. I would like to see Gorgui's minutes dialed back considerably.

My concern as well Lip. I see a forty win team with no visible way to improve significantly. Hopefully we get rid of Thibs, but even that seems unlikely when we just made a trade that is based completely on the present.

Weird that people who said this team never would get any good players in FA don't seem to be interested in getting back a 1st team nba defender in Covington who bombs 3's (and makes them) that's signed for the next 4 years for a little more than the mid level. Who would want the starting PF for a 52 win team that's 24 years old and costs less than 6 million combined for this season and next. But yes a draft pick from a team that's gonna be really good (better than our own pick) would be the answer. Why not add some players that might actually win basketball games and do so for not a whole lot of money?

A deal had to be made. We just couldn't go on like this any longer. I'm sure it was the best deal on the table today. The biggest problem is, and i said it at the time, this trade should have been made the night of the draft. We would have maxed Butler's value that night. Thibs was stubborn, and we paid the price.

Is this the ideal deal? Probably not. But it was the best that was available. We don't have a time machine to trade him on draft night.
Miami took richardson off the table and bam wasnt at included. The heat wanted to dump useless deals.
Rockets 4 picks sounds good, but in reality we don't know the protections on those picks because it wasn't going to be unprotected.
Financially this was easily the best deal. Talent wise, id say its right up there with whatever was available.

Who's girlfriend do you think Butler is scoping out right now? He's got a whole new roster full of prospects to choose from now. I hear the free clinics in Philly are bracing for a lot more business.

Yeah this got weird real quick. From enthusiasm to depressing negative views on the trade. Is it cause we're Wolves fans? Do we just enjoy bitchin like Gibson? Idk. When you trade the star you never get equal value back. We got some good guys though and that's fine with me
