Camden... I disagree a bit about Brewer being as good as you claim.

He is a very poor rebounder. And a poor outside shooter. He's a mixed bag on defense and finishing. That's been the case all year long... only more pronounced now.

In the NBA, you better be good at several things... or really really good at one thing. I don't see Brewer excelling at any one thing... nor being above average at multiple things.

Was he or was he not playing above average? His skillset aside, Brewer was playing like an above average starter. He's just recently hit a plateau and has come back down a bit. Until about a week or two ago, he was averaging 14 points and shooting 45% from the field while playing above average defense. As a role player in the starting lineup, I'll take that all day, every day.

Problem has always been his shot selection. If he would quit hanging out in the corner so much and instead make his cuts, we'd be getting back to the production he was showing earlier this season. You're right, he's not a good shooter. That's why he needs to be spending energy on cuts. He's been getting away from that, which is one of his strengths.

Depends how you look at it:

14 ppg is about average... but above average works in this scenario. Same with defense, I don't think anybody has been consistently above average on D this season (rubio is hard to gauge... high steals, but struggles with getting around picks) He's been a poor rebounder. Poor dribbler. Poor passer. Poor shot creator for himself all season.

I'd grade Brewer as average even when he was playing his best ball this season. For everything he brought to the table... he took something off it. And, role player or not... he's getting paid $5M.

14 PPG while there's two 20+ PPG scorers and another 16 PPG scorer as well. That's not average production.
