I feel like there will be many quality role players but I am not seeing star players and the difference between 7 and 30 is not much of a difference.
Luka Doncic- By far my favorite player in this draft, Got that IT factor who is a tall skilled guard that can play multiple positions. Can shoot and is not afraid of the moment. I feel like the media doesn't have him as the overall #1 pick because they haven't seen him and he is European.
Ayton- I just don't love him. I think we see with KAT if you don't have the ability to be an above average defensive center it is hard to have a good defense. Also KAT is so much more talented on offense. Ayton has a motor issue that was shown a lot in the season. He doesn't like to fight for position in the post in the multiple games I watched this season (even though his body is probably better suited than KAT to do so). I think his defense will be similar to KAT but not even close to KAT on the offensive end, and with that what do you really have. Valancinus/Lopez/Kanter type player, who are all good players but not game changers.
Mo Bamba- Love his potential, but drafting a defensive center high always scares me because it is so hard to determine how good that defense will translate. I mean Gorgui, Kat, WCS, Bismack and Thabeet were all very good defensive players in college (internationally) but it has not translated in the NBA. It is just hard to know if those skills will translate as a center.
Jaren Jackson Jr- I think he will be a solid player but I don't see a top 3 player on a deep playoff team. Think he is solid at a lot of things but is not amazing at any one thing. Just seeing a starter on a playoff team nothing more.
Micheal Porter Jr- Massive unknown, but based on reports sounds like a poor mans wiggins (I know we all love Wiggins). Not as athletic as wiggins, not a good shooter like wiggins, poor dribbler like wiggins. Just think it is hard to be consistent in the NBA if you don't have a solid handle. Based on reports Porter dosen't
Marvin Bagley- Thomas Robinson 2.0. Dominated College but just 2 much of a tweener for todays NBA. Think he will be a big time bust.
Trae Young- Think he will struggle. Going to be hard for him to move from doing everything to a role player. Not athletic enough. I just don't see it.
I'm a bit shocked on the Bagley take. The dude is a stud. My only reservation with him is that he is a twig, but if he puts on some muscle he's gonna be really good. He can do everything on offense. Shoot, handle, score at the rim and he's a legit 6'11. He's made to be a modern NBA 4.
The big knock on him I have seen is he can't guard anybody. I saw some of that when I watched the tourney.
I guess my counter to that is who is going to be able to guard him? 6'11 who can shoot and put it on the floor. Post up wings and take bigs off the dribble. I think defensively it's not as big of a deal because he's not your anchor at the 4. I think he's one of the guys who's offense can be good enough that you overlook the defense. Just put him next to a good defender and I think you could teach him how to be a decent weakside defender with his height and length. I would agree defense is a weakness for him though.
"European champion, Euroleague champion, Euroleague MVP, Euroleague Final Four MVP (now official). Not sure what else 19-year old Luka Doncic can do to prove himself as an elite NBA prospect, besides possibly jumping over a car in a dunk contest. Someone's getting a player June 21"
The draft is just a little over 3 weeks away and some guys are making their decision to stay in. Donte V is in. Even if we don't pick him that's just another talent that can push a player down to us. I want a bunch of guys to stay in for both our pick at #20 and #48.

Yeah, and nbadraft.net has him going 5th...hard to believe there are 4 better players in this draft.
They are projecting us to take Lonnie Walker. He's a good athlete with some upside, but this scares me: "lacks defensive intensity, especially off the ball, as he has a habit of floating around the court instead of remaining engaged...Looks lost at times on offense when the ball isn't in his hands...needs to ensure that he plays hard all the time". Hmm...sounds like someone I know, but I just can't think of who right now.
Assuming Shamet and Thomas will be gone, my pick is still Shake Milton at 20. It's not surprising that Utah worked him out yesterday (reports are he was very impressive) as they seem to have a knack for finding diamonds in the rough (see Mitchell, Donovan). I won't be happy if we pass on him and he goes to Utah with the subsequent pick.

That Rudy Gobert guy worked out okay for them too.

I also like Shake Milton. I also would recommend you to look at the ringer NBA draft guide, they put in a lot more work then NBAdraft.net. They having us picking Jacob Evans from Cinci.
I would also not say that the Jazz always kill it. For every Mitchell and Gobert there is a Hood (who can't get minutes on the Cavs), Lyles (played 0 minutes in game 82 for the Nuggets), Exum (who is hurt all the time but for as high of a pick is disappointing) and Burks (who was not playing until all the injuries).
But in the end hitting on players like Mitchell and Gobert makes up for all the so-so and disappointing picks.

Thx for the tip on the ringer draft guide, kek...looks pretty good. I didn't know anything about Evans before. Interesting that they have Milton going to Utah right after our pick.

No team hits on every pick. But the top organizations hit and hit big on some of their picks, which is what the Jazz did with Mitchell at 14 and Gobert at 26. Credit the Jazz even more for trading up to get Mitchell. So Mitchell wasn't a shot in the dark; it was a smart calculated pick by a very good organization. The Wolves have yet to hit big on a middle or late 1st round pick or a 2nd round pick. Flip may have hit modestly on Tyus Jones, but that's it.
