There are already numerous outlets saying the GSW are just using DLO until Klay comes back healthy then will look to trade him. Could that future trade already be in place with MN? It just seems odd that DLO is already being rumored to be traded down the road. hmmm the DLO dream might just be on ice.
Its dead. No sense for a free agent and a team to commit to each other with the intention of parting ways months from now. Both parties(warriors and russel) would make every effort to make it work.
A couple other probably things to think about for Russell going to GS.
Players that play in the playoffs get a little extra money for playing in each series. Even with Klay being injured for most of the season I'd guess that GS gets out of the 2nd round. Its not a significant amount of money but its something. Would the Wolves even make the playoffs if he was here? Maybe.
Russell's shoe deal is about to expire so...does he become more intriguing as the guy next to Towns or going to GS? idk I can see both paths being a great spot to be for him but I can see GS and being in Cali considered being a better spot. Again being in the playoffs and more likely making a long playoff run probably means more $$$.
I do think its odd we are only involved with GS so far, but I agree I think they were feeling pressure knowing they are losing KD, have Klay hurt and hadn't yet got Looney back. They probably don't get Cousins on a min deal again and they needed to add talent. I also could see where Russell fits in with Steph they lose some defense but they should be damn good scoring team once again.
Seeing Roc Thomas got suspended for 3 games by the NFL for his marijuana possession this offseason made it all click. Another bonus for Russell picking the Warriors is pot is legal in California. Lol
