Very true, khans. And you can love him for it. But don't tell us we can't hate him, or view the Warriors as the villains.

I never said any of that. Way to put words in my mouth. I also don't love Durant. I simply don't care about this move as much as most of you do from the competitive standpoint or the loyalty standpoint. I'm just trying to keep some balance in the complete dump fest on him for making the move that was best for him and his basketball legacy. You can disagree with that all you want or hate him or the Warriors all you want.

He's been to 4 conference finals and 1 NBA finals. He's run into the brick wall multiple times and broken through once so I think he knows his chances at beating GS and they still weren't good even if he came back. You can say he should have given it one more shot, but the guy made it to the conference finals every year he had a healthy team and never came close to a title. This chance was literally once in a lifetime and he took it. He could have stayed and been the modern edition of Stockton/Malone and left to go somewhere else when they failed again and then he'd still be looking at that brick wall no matter where he went. You'd respect him more for trying to take down the brick wall, but history says he'd get just as criticized at the end of his career if he never took down that brick wall and came out empty handed.

Either way he would get criticized, I agree. That being said the Thunder made a nice move this offseason to help the team. They could have made moves in free agency had Durant committed. They could have given it another shot.

Michael didn't join the Pistons when he couldn't beat them. They improved and went on to win 6 titles. I gather Durant felt like he couldn't beat GS, and that makes me lose respect for him as a competitor. I would rather have the Barkley's, Ewing's, Malone's, Stockton's of the world who competed and tried, as cornerstone type players, to bring their team a championship. Joining a 73 win team is weak on Durant. He has every right to make this move.
