Re: Playoffs discussion
I got out without being caned. I am in Malaysia now.
But my guide was detailing some of the many regulations, including the buying and selling of chewing gum, as I am chomping away on a stick of Extra Spearmint gum!! Fortunately, chewing gum is not against the regulations - just buying and selling.
And fines seem to have become the de facto punishment over caning these days…
Re: Playoffs discussion
I was in Singapore for a few days on business in 2007. Rather sobering to get off the plane and see guards everywhere with machine guns! And the streets were perfectly spotless, because any kind of littering would result in jail time or worse. There was no crime to speak of anywhere. But despite the beauty, cleanliness and safety (as long as you follow the rules!), I felt a distinct lack of freedom with the gen d'armes watching my every move making sure I didn't drop a gum wrapper on the sidewalk! I'll take the USA any day over Singapore! Tim, I wonder if things have loosened up a little since my time there 18 years ago.60WinTim wrote: ↑Mon Apr 07, 2025 4:11 pmI got out without being caned. Re: Playoffs discussion
Unbelievable, isn't it! While I still have us finishing 8th with 48 wins, 4th place is still in play if we can beat Memphis and the Bucks...neither an impossible task. Or even 3rd if we win out and the Lakers have just one klunker. But yeah...first and foremost we have to keep winning! And a meh performance like everyone other than Rudy and Ant put in against Brooklyn ain't gonna get it done.Phenom wrote: ↑Sun Apr 06, 2025 10:43 pm Crazy 5 way tie in the loss column of 32 losses. A quick look shows me the head to head to head to head to head records as:
Wolves 8-5
Clippers 8-5
Warriors 7-7
Nuggets 5-8
Grizzlies 4-7
Wolves would win the tie break over LA methinks via either reverting to head to head or moving to conference record.
This is highly unlikely since Memphis plays both Minnesota and Denver still. There are so many scenarios still.
Just keep winning!!!
Re: Playoffs discussion
Maybe it was because of the group I was with, but I did not notice a bunch of armed guards. Everyone was so welcoming, and the city has become very tourist friendly. I was very impressed with how clean everything was, and how safe it seemed to walk around any time of the day or night. Lots of things to do and see.FNG wrote: ↑Mon Apr 07, 2025 4:39 pmI was in Singapore for a few days on business in 2007. Re: Playoffs discussion
I'm really hoping to see a couple easy wins down the stretch. This team has had the thriller dial on 10 lately and I'm assuming the playoffs will be chock full.FNG wrote: ↑Mon Apr 07, 2025 4:44 pmUnbelievable, isn't it! I was there in the early 2010s (don't remember the exact year) on business and I remember it being similar Tim. Very nice place.60WinTim wrote: ↑Mon Apr 07, 2025 5:14 pmMaybe it was because of the group I was with, but I did not notice a bunch of armed guards. I was in Singapore back in 1986 for a couple days when our aircraft carried anchored of shore in the middle of the night. It was crazy when I woke up and went out on the catwalk to see ships for as far as the eye could see. When we got to shore we had no idea what to do so we just followed everyone else, it turns out they were all headed to McDonalds! LOL
I remember is being a very clean, modern city with not a lot for a bunch of young Marines to do. Pattaya Beach Thailand was A LOT more fun!
