1. Fastball movement you can throw hard but your ball is straight you'll get rocked
2. Command can't walk guys
3. Strike out pitch it can be there fastball slider but what do they use to get a guy out.

The problem with Belisle is being used a role he's not used to. Last year he was Washington 6-7 inning guy not a 8th inning set up guy.

If we stumble upon another starter. Do any of those guys that are starting project to good relievers?

We talked about Gibson and he might not have a future as a reliever if he can't figure out starting. Would that be your take?

Actually they guy that I thought was that guy and has a pretty good year so far was Duffey. I though he could add more to his fastball and he has and he has the excellent curve ball.

Mejia would be the next guy. The only bad thing about him is his command can be shaky at times, but he's left handed. If he's coming out the bullpen he would hit upper 90s easily and has that really good slider.

Gibson does nothing for me I think he's been a 4A pitcher for years now. Doesn't attack the zone doesn't have a strike out pitch. Ppl like to say he's a ground ball pitcher but if you look at his stats from the last couple years they don't back that up. He just throws a sinker so ppl say he's a ground ball pitcher.

Important come from behind win last night...tip of the hat to Castro for his clutch GWRBI in the 9th. Also nice to see Mejia have such a nice outing, and the bullpen bounce back from the disastrous Houston series. Oh, and to see Sano get back on track with a HR.

I think we're all concerned about the bullpen though, especially since there's no apparent help in AAA, and Nick Burdi out for the season. Here is a dose of optimism though:

1) Okay, I'm not holding my breath, but Glen Perkins is now pitching live to hitters. If he can return at 90% of what he was, the bullpen instantly gets better.

2) Wimmers and Rosario were just promoted and could help. Wimmers wasn't lights out in AAA, but has a good changeup (the best pitch in baseball, I think). I'm more excited about Rosario though. A lefty with an upper 90s fastball and wicked slider. Another TJ guy a couple years ago, but he has bounced back and is skipping over AAA to join the pen. I'm hoping he's here to stay...he could be a stud.

It was a nice win especially against the Angels aka Minnesota Twuns West. Mejia is starting to look like he could be legit. Very encouraging. It was a good night for Sano not only did he help with his bat but he had that triple play. Sometimes stuff like that can get a guy out of a slump.

LST if Perkins comes back at even 70-80 percent of what he was he would probably help this Pen. The fact that he is actually progressing is encouraging. I want the guy to at least be able to come back and pitch some even if it's just in the minors. If he could make it back up here and be a solid reliever that would be a nice story.

Hey that Gibson guy we brought up from AAA looked pretty good. Maybe we should keep him up here. Lol I only watched the condensed game but he did actually look good. He threw strikes.

Nice win the Twins pounded the Angels and they got the new pitchers in and the rest of the Pen got a break. Its crazy the Twins have played 7 less games than the Angels.

You're probably right, monster. A 70% Perkins would still be better in long relief than most of the guys we have out there now. And a 90-100% Perk would give us two guys (with Kintzler) who we could count on in the 8th and 9th inning, depending on the situation. Let's hope he can do it.

Didn't see the game, so thx for the report. Yeah, great to see Gibby pitch up to his potential.

Your guy Mauer is really on a tear...another homer and several hits last night. If he can hit like he did in May, I'll have to back off my criticism of Mollie batting his 3rd and 4th.

Now we have Santana and Berrios coming up, so a good chance of continuing this terrific road record.

Happy to see Gibson do well. I would love to see him be a solid 4th starter for this team.

Jester - So what made Radke effective?

Smalley talked about what he saw with Mauer in his last podcast with Souhan and he said Mauer looked more like the old Joe than he has seen in a few years. He said he did think it looked like Joe was doing something different with his stance but he didn't want to say too much because he hadn't talked to anyone about what he may be doing different. It's fun to see Mauer actually being a plenty worthwhile player especially with his play defensively at 1b.

Who is this guy?

Nik Turley, a minor leaguer in the Twins' system, struck out 15 hitters in 6 innings against the Yankees' Triple-A affiliate Tuesday night. Only 3 of the 18 outs he recorded were on groundouts or flyouts. That will catch your attention.

Turley scattered 4 hits in his start against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, and the impressive scoreless night on the mound lowered his ERA with the Red Wings to 3.49.

Turley has also pitched for Double-A Chattanooga this year, in a mix of starting and relieving.

In 52 2/3 innings between the two upper levels of the minors this year, Turley has a 2.05 ERA with an 84:15 strikeout-to-walk ratio. Without having seen him pitch, it's hard to know how he's racking up those totals, but they're the kind of numbers that make you wonder if he'll get a shot in Minnesota at some point this summer.

Looks plenty intriguing after last night's game.
