1st Round - 14th pick sent to Phliiy for Bradford nets John Ross, WR, Washington

2nd Round - 48th pick
Dan Feeney, G, Indiana

The Vikings addressed most of their critical needs in free agency, and several targets were snatched from them in the picks before they finally came on the clock, but Feeney sill gives Minnesota a player with a good shot to be a day-one starter at a position of need and upgrade the O-line. Playing a full season of guard in 2015, Feeney allowed just six total QB pressures and no sacks. -- Sam Monson, @PFF_SamNeed I am not a big fan of Feeney, but fills a need. Dorian Johnson graded better in pass and run blocking without concussion issues. Either way I would have taked Brantley as our DT before Feeney. Suprised how early Pocuc from LSU goes. (Obi Melifonwu-S goes 37th. Kevin King-CB goes 39th Pocic-C goes 47th, Caleb Brantley-DT goes 51st. Mixon-RB goes 54th.)


3rd Round - 79th pick.
Budda Baker, S, Washington

Minnesota is a team that cycles through a variety of different coverages, and while the Vikings have one safety that can execute that extremely well in Harrison Smith, they have now added a second in Washington prospect Budda Baker. Baker has the ability to excel in Mike Zimmer's defense and patch up a weak link in the chain. -- Sam Monson, @PFF_Sam I like the pick. I was shocked Elfein went this early. Tanzel Smart, DT, Tulane

Minnesota suddenly has a significant hole to fill along the D-line with Sharrif Floyd's injury reportedly one that could threaten his career. At the minimum, the Vikings could use another presence inside rushing the passer. Smart notched 47 total QB pressures in 2016. -- Sam Monson, @PFF_Sam
Stock has been rising, but this is just too early. Jaleel Johnson was more productive against better players. Shocked to see Montravius Adams go so late. Even more shocked that Dorian Johnson has not been taken yet. Stats to know: Johnson allowed only 15 pressures (2 sacks, 13 hurries) in the last three seasons at Pitt. (Montravius Adams-DT goes 101st. Jaleel Johnson - DT goes 106th. Dorian Johnson still on the board. Roderick Johnson-OT goes 90th and OT's go on a run.)

4th Round 120th Pick
D'Onta Foreman, RB, Texas

Signing Latavius Murray is a solid stopgap at the running back position for Minnesota, but Murray is a limited player who may never provide the kind of impact the team wants at the position, having been spoiled with Adrian Peterson for so many years. D'Onta Foreman won't replace Peterson, either, but he may provide a bigger impact than Murray long-term. -- Sam Monson, @PFF_Sam I like this pick for us. Needed a RB. He has a lot of upside. 4th Round 128th pick
Fabian Moreau, CB, UCLA

The Vikings don't have a big cornerback need, though it may prove bigger than they believe depending on the play of their young guys in 2017. That said, Moreau proves too much value to pass up here. He has fallen due to injury, but Minnesota likely won't need him near the field in year one, anyway. -- Sam Monson, @PFF_Sam Interesting pick. Raw talent for Zimmer to work with.

Jalen Robinette, WR, Air Force

Minnesota's receiving corps is still unproven outside of Stefon Diggs, but Jalen Robinette provides an interesting insurance option to last year's top rookie, Laquon Treadwell. Robinette caught passes for 26.2 yards per carry in 2016, gaining more than 7 yards per reception after the catch on average. -- Sam Monson, @PFF_Sam I hate this pick. Raw and have seen him rated 46th best WR in this draft. Lots of WR went after him and would almost take any of them over Jalen. (Damien Mama-G goes 178th. Samaje Perine-RB goes 182nd. 6th Round - 198th pick
Sean Harlow, OT, Oregon State

The Vikings added a pair of tackles in free agency, but they would still love to find a young player that could improve the position. Sean Harlow allowed just one sack in 2016 while moving bodies in the run game at Oregon State. -- Sam Monson, @PFF_Sam I hate this pick. I don't see him at OT so not sure why we take him.

7th Round - 231st pick
Zach Terrell, QB, Western Michigan

QBs are so valuable that I would always roll the dice on one late in the draft, because the jackpot payoff is so huge if you get it right. Zach Terrell showed some ability at Western Michigan and would be an intriguing developmental QB. -- Sam Monson, @PFF_Sam Seriously bad pick.

That is an idea. Posting here was making me think what next steps might be. I am not sure it would pay like what I do now, but I would like doing it more than selling software.

Another DT/DE that Paul Allen was talking about was Dylan Bradley. Looks like a good late round player to keep an eye on.

This place said he weighted in at 286 at his pro day. John Randle was supposed to be too small too.

If you are starting to get serious about doing the draft website thing I would say one thing would be to do is start going to local football games both high school and college scouting players. Start looking at full games on YouTube or wherever you can get them. Subscribe to one of the scouting stats video gathering services. Hudl is one of them and are a local company here in Lincoln. Start it as a hobby and see if you could see yourself doing it for a job. To keep things from being overwhelming you could concentrate on a position group. If you wanted to really narrow it down scout the long snappers. Lol

I saw that link too on Dylan Bradley. 286 is enough to play inside on passing downs in my opinion. John Randle was a smaller player that bulked up. Dylan played 90% of his teams snaps which means he has a good motor, but he only got pressure on 10% of his snap in passing situations. Not great and it would be interesting to see how faired inside vs outside. (Example Carl Lawson got pusher on 40% of his snaps playing inside)

I am more of a data guy than watching tons of film. I would certainly need to get better at film study.

I listened to the latest purple podcast about the draft...the best part was them joking around with each other and Coller talking about his great jumpshot in basketball. So yeah not really worth your time imo but it gave me something to do while I got in a mile and a half run/walk to the library and some stuff around the house. I wish Goessling talked more or just had his own podcast with other people. Lol

Yotter and Souhan's podcast is much much better imo. I didn't used to be a big fan of Souhan because his columns would drive me nuts sometimes but I like him on all these podcasts he does really well as the host and he doesn't take himself too seriously.

It sounds pretty definitive that the incident actually happened based on what was in that article. SMH Regardless that's going to cost him a lot of money. Calling him an idiot might be too kind if this is true and it just seems to show such a lack of awareness to do something like that considering Joe Mixon's situation that has been so publicized.
