Maybe Vando or Beasley? Maybe Beverly? All sorts of possiblities. And I expect our fan base to be "underwhelmed". But I expect our winning and team cohesion to improve.
Offensively, it's nearly comical how much better Russell has been than Conley for most of this season. But most of us also know the guy's warts, while Conley is considered a consummate teammate.
What wins out?
The mercurial scorer or the caretaker analytics darling? I dunno... but I do know the board might melt down while we figure it out over the next (xx) games.
I'd also prefer a bit more of a dynamic PG. But at least Conley can shoot better than the other caretaker PG on the roster. I do worry, however, about a lot of redundancy with both of them on the court. You could play McLaughlin and Russell together. I don't think you can do it with Conley and McLaughlin.
[Note: Remember, it's still a contract year for D. Russell... only he'll have the whole world watching his every game in LA. He can make A LOT of money if things work out. Playing with James and Davis won't hurt those chances. I expect him to thrive if this goes down. (at least for this season)... ]
