20th overall pick who turned into nothing is a huge flop for the Wolves? Someone got their hopes up pretty high I guess.

Abe what do you think should we have drafted Kevin Pritchard that year and immediately turned over the whole franchise to him?

Yeah, it was a bad draft. And of course the draft was 5 deep, because we had #6. And Ol' Miss was a .500 team at best. But I still had high hopes for Glass when we got him at 20. But how does a 38% 3-point shooter attracting all the defensive attention in college end up shooting 23.6% in the pros? Even odder, how does his free throw percentage drop from 74% in college to 64% in the pros. My sources tell me a free throw has a relatively similar degree of difficulty in college and the pros. The guy completely lost his game when he got to Minnesota, and will always rank high up there in my list of draft disappointments. That's probably on me because my expectations for Glass were inflated. Felton Spencer at #6 was never a disappointment for me because I knew he was lunchmeat when we drafted him.

Hey, if you're not willing to name your sources I have to assume this is complete bullshit.

Significant changes in free throw shooting percentage from year to year always baffles me. How does a player suddenly forget how to make a shot that he's put thousands upon thousand of reps into? I'm not old enough to remember Gerald Glass, but I'm well aware of Andrew Wiggins who after sinking 76-percent of his free throws through his first three seasons suddenly turned in a paltry 64-percent after signing his max contract extension. Absolutely absurd. Since that year he's shot 71-percent over the last couple of seasons, but like... what happened there guy?

It happens to even some of the best guys, only it can be even more pronounced. Gerald Glass only took 241 free throws over a few seasons. And he was only about 9% points lower than in the 600+ attempts in college.

Consider the Curious Case of Tim Duncan:

2001: Shot 61.8% from the line on 662 free throws.
2002: Shot 79.9% from the line... and led the league in free throw makes. Took 701 total free throws.
2004: Shot only 59.9% from the line on 588 attempts only two years later.

It didn't end there. Later in his career, he rebounded to 81.7% at one point... a year after shooting 69.5%.

Tim Duncan is one of the league's most consistently good players... ever. His year-to-year stats are ridiculously consistent... sans free throws.

I was thinking there was some variance to his career FT numbers so I looked up another very good player. I was kinda shocked to see Lebron's regular season FT average the last 3 seasons were all below 70%. I guess it's not a massive dip from his career percentage but still.

It's funny, I used to see him at my health club all the time, and had several conversations with him. A genuinely really nice guy. It's just too bad that I knew more about basketball than he did. LOL

I got to know David Kahn fairly well. I agree, Cool, he was a genuinely nice guy. Unfortunately, he had no business as head of an NBA team's basketball operations.

Meh. He picked wax from his ear and then immediately put that finger in his mouth...

... you can't trust somebody like that.
