Martin to Dallas for Felton and J. Anderson. We get a stopgap backup PG and a young SG/SF prospect. Cuban may go for it in order to boost his playoff chances

Interesting idea. Felton is viewed around he League as a bit of a cancer. So the Wolves may not want him here poisoning the otherwise good team chemistry.

Never heard about it. He had fitness issues for sure though. But the guy is in a contract year so I think he would try to impress in order to stay in the league beyond this year. Don't see much downside. And he's kind of a pass first PG as well.

Anderson sounds interesting but Inam not sure the if Dallas likes Anderson they would give up a young player just for this year. Basically there is no chance the Wolves bring Felton in in any trade. It was reported that Dallas wanted to include him in a deal for the wolves to move up in the draft and the Wolves had no interest I that. I used to be a Felton suppporter yeas ago but the dude has some issues and at the very least doesn't stay in shape. When they played the Bulls in preseason here in Lincoln a couple local radio guys were hanging out at some event with all the players said he looked like a guy in the physical condition of someone you played with at the local YMCA. Felton can play but I want no part of that guy for this young team. I would buy him out or just cut him.

Martin is the only guy I would have any real interest in moving and part of that is where Martin is at. Does he have interest in sticking out this entire rebuild no matter what that entails? It seems sorta unlikely but he has stuck around this long. Regardless I want something pretty good for him if he is moved. I don't really want to move him but if you got something worthwhile it makes a lot of sense. Lip brought up his injury history. That's probably the main long term reason for me to see the positive in him moving on although there are plenty of other compelling reasons also.

Trading Martin for a backup PG fits the needs of this board, and the rubechat board, because nobody (except perhaps me) sees Zach as a backup PG and wants him to be the backup SG. But the reason Martin will not be traded for a backup PG is that Sam doesn't see Zach as a SG. He made that perfectly clear in the game Martin missed. Fans assumed that Zach would take Miller's place backing up Wig, and Miller/Jones would back up Rubio. But that's not what Sam did. Zach stayed right where Sam wants him, and Bazz backed up Wig at the 2. Zach did get some minutes on the court with Rubio, but most of his time was at PG. I don't see that changing in the near-term, because Sam is clearly committed to giving Zach PG minutes.

It looks more to me based on what I have seen like Sam wants guys to stay in one role so they can have success than any dying love for Zach playing PG.

Felton is a bad seed. And Sam should go back to his first intuition and start Zach at the 2 where he belongs. Our starting lineup should be Rubio - Zach - Wig - KG - Towns.

I'm open to trading martin but I would like to target a 3 and d sf in return to replace prince's role on the team. A guy like batum would be ideal( unlikely though with Mkg out) but someone similar..

I would have lavine playing combo guard attacking the defense with minutes split on pg/sg backing up rubio and wig.

I was curious who Sam would have started at SG if Rubio would have played last night. I was curious to see if it was LaVine or Martin.

I think it's probably a little of both, monster. Sam had a few days to evaluate Zach at SG in the early practices, and clearly didn't like what he saw, and ever since then has shown a clear preference to play him at PG. We here watched Zach at PG and SG last season, and saw a much better player when he played SG...offensively, that is. But unlike Flip, Sam's tendency is to put players where he thinks they will thrive best defensively, and it seems that he prefers Zach's quickness and length guarding PGs rather than SGs. We don't know what Sam sees in practice, because we aren't there, but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt that his opinion is based on deeper information than ours. And it seems to be working...this team would be 5-2 if Rubio and Wig had played last night.
