Re: Nemanja Bjelica - Hype Thread
Zgoda got the report from a professional scout last week.
And to Cam - full disclosure: I hate European men. But I love European women. Go figure.
Guys - we're never going to agree. Let's put a pin in this and see how it unfolds. If you guys are right, Bjelica will certainly be starting next year in the NBA. You can shove in my face at that time. If not...well, I'll have my fun :-)

HOU: T. Jones, No. 18 overall (from NO)
MIN: rights to N. Bjelica, No. 31 and 36 overall picks
The Rockets can replace Jones' length and defensive presence with Capela, but they don't have the traditional stretch-big that they are probably looking for to pair next to Howard in their uptempo, 3P-shooting offense. Bjelica would make so much sense for them. Essentially, he plays the same game/role Jones does just without the blocked shots and a legitimate jumper.
For Minnesota, it gives them a somewhat more-proven PF to add to the puzzle and the guy's only 23-years old. He'd compliment whatever big we picked in June well and he would be a welcomed defensive presence in our frontcourt (1.8 BPG this year).
I've been trying to come up with a way for the Wolves to get Jones because I see him as a tremendously good fit here, and that seems like it could work for both teams. Also, HOU gets out of the guaranteed contract to a 1st-rounder, signs Bjelica for a much cheaper deal than Jones will likely command after the 2015-16 season AND adds two high 2nd-rounders, which they'll probably use better than we ever could.
I've posted plenty of trade ideas on this board, but this one's probably one of my favorite.
Edit: Jones' agent is Arn Tellem, who also represents Gorgui Dieng.
That seems like an awfully good deal for the Wolves. Actually it's pretty lopsided IMO, and I'm not much of a Jones fan.

Well, if that's the case then what about Jones for Bjelica, 31 and 36? Still unfair? Does that alter the answer of, "Would you pull the trigger?" Does Houston pull the trigger?

I would not pull the trigger if that was the deal on the table. Houston may, depending on how they see Bjelica. But I think the 3 assets we would be sending are > Jones.

I would like to hand into one of those 2nd rounders but I guess it depends on the value you have of Jones. I just haven't seen him play his stats look like he may be a good match for what we need. Does Houston value Bjelica? Idk one scout a couple months ago said Bjelica was a better rebounding version of the better Morris twin.
Another question: is Jones a guy we could just sign as a FA at some point in the nearish future? If we trade for him how soon are we gonna have to pay him and how long do we have to decide whether he is what we want going forward?
I've said this for a while its time we pick and develop our own guys like team like Houston, GS, OKC, Spurs etc have done. Quit giving up assets to get the type of guys that were picked in draft spots we should be able to find worthwhile players ourselves. That doesn't mean you don't trade for a worthwhile player if it really makes sense but I think you get my point. This is obviously a lot of frustration of the past wolves and quite frankly Flip gives me some hope he can find some guys worthwhile outside of the top 10 or so picks because it looks like he has actually done so in the last 2 years.

Terrance Jones is highly likely to be better than either of those second round picks. He will be a FA soon (after next year) but he'd be a RFA and I don't think he's played well enough to warrant any crazy contract offers. I think he's an underrated rim protector (almost 2 BPG's in under 30 MPG's) which is something we lack and he can shoot 3's as a 4 (he's gotten better every year and was a 35% 3pt shooter this year and 40% in the 24 games he started and got 29 MPG's). He's just a solid player who if he starts all next year will probably get around 10 million a year or 8 million if he comes off the bench. You might be able to sign him away for that but with the new cap that deal looks just as good to the Rockets who could choose to keep him if you don't significantly overpay him.

I would definitely pull the trigger on that. I think Jones would be a great fit between Towns and Wiggins. He is a very athletic PF who does many things well.

I don't think Houston even considers, they would be trading a guy who is a good backup pf at worst and a decent draft pick for three guys who might never see an nba floor in meaningful minutes

Re: Nemanja Bjelica - Hype Thread
Fenerbahce is trying to convince Nemanja Bjelica to remain in Turkey at least one more season. The Serbian forward is drawing al lot of interest from the Timberwolves who would love to bring him overseas during the summer. @DWolfsonKSTP: Report from Turkey that Bjelica wants 3-years, $15M. Not sure I see the #Twolves doing that. Decent trade bait? https://t.co/It5z0Qpkd9
Only 3 years 15 million? I'm joking a little but at one point it sounded like it may take a little more than that.
