I would rather lose a well played game against a good team in which the kids showed growth than win a game largely because one of the geezers who won't be here next year went off. It's just pathetic that they were one lousy point away from going 0-4 on a homestand many expected 4-0!
Outside of Towns and Bazz there is nothing good to take from that mess.
Disagree with this, the wolves are in the stage they need to win games, towns and shabazz were great. Wiggins was ok. They won. Also kmart has two more years left, he will be part of the transiting period
Wiggins wasn't ok. He was horrible. Missing wide open shots. Turning the ball over. Stifling whatever ball movement we had. Not rebounding. Standing and watching loose balls all around him that he could potentially get to. Sadly, these last two (not rebounding and not reacting to or hustling after loose balls) are consistently part of Wiggins' game. He has questionable hands and a poor handle for an NBA wing. He has a world of talent, but a long way to go if he's going to truly become a cornerstone player. Bazz was much better than Wiggins tonight and his minutes should have reflected that fact. But not in Sam Mitchell's mind. And even when Bazz doesn't shoot well, he ALWAYS hustles, rebounds and plays with passion. If only we could transplant Bazz's heart into Wiggins' body.

Lip, have you ever brought yourself to diminish Rickys game? God knows I've done enough for the both of us but u sure don't seem objective when it comes to him. Especially since your usually pretty fair otherwise. Except for shabazzs' draft nite .
I hate watching LA play... and that was even without Kobe Bryant out there much late. Remember when I said the Wolves play selfish sometimes... that's nothing compared to LA. Yuck.
The worst shooting team in the league... and it's obvious why. The Wolves should be embarrassed that collection of no-passing chuckers hit 52% of their shots. That's a 60-loss team. It seems like it's all part of the plan.
Good for the Wolves to pull it out. Towns looked great. Muhammad hustled like a mad man. The rest? Ummm...
[Note: Tonight, Rubio's unwillingness to shoot... or even being a threat to shoot... didn't kill the Wolves. But that was because they were playing the 2nd worst team (and maybe the worst when all is said and done) in the entire league. It's a problem. The bigger problem is that I don't know if anybody has a clue what to do about it. I know I don't. He's a good player. But not being able to shoot is just such an uphill slog sometimes.]

I agree that Wiggins has been disappointing tonight and lately. However, I don't want him to have Bazz's heart--one that hustles for scoring and rebounds, but cares little about defense and passing. The paragon of hearts is KAT. He's the quintessential hustle on both sides of the ball, not just offense. I agree that Bazz maybe deserved a little more run tonight, but KMart was on fire and Sam wants to play and develop Wiggins whether he's hot or cold.

Pork -- As you said, you do enough Ricky-bashing for the both of us. Heck, you do enough for the entire State. :). Honestly, I'm getting increasingly frustrated by Ricky's inability to hit open jumpers. But as Abe noted, it didn't hurt us tonight - although it has hurt us and will hurt us in the future. But tonight, Ricky was clearly a net positive, not a negative. He had 12 assists and 9 rebounds to go with only 2 turnovers. He got to the line 6 times and hit 5. He had the highest plus/minus on the team tonight at a whopping 22. If you're railing about Ricky tonight, it's pure animus. In contrast, it makes perfect sense objectively to be down on Wiggins, Dieng, Zach or Sam based on tonight's game.

Can you have a winning basketball team the way the game is played today with your pg hitting 3 or less Shots ( 35% clip )on a nightly basis? Assists or not his lack of a threat surely hurts this team and it's spacing.
And I'll take that as a no, no u cannot knock his game. :) increasingly frustrated doesn't count . Lol

Maybe I should clarify a bit.
It didn't hurt us because the team won. But it's obviously a problem. I don't know how anybody isn't going to argue that at this point. As for the +/- stuff... I guess it's good Rubio was on the court with Towns and Martin. Towns scored in the flow though, while Martin hunted and took some pretty questionable shots. They just went in this time.
[Note: I did see one of the best plays of the season though... I think it was at the beginning of OT. Was it Wiggins who made a nice pass under the hoop who kicked it into the corner to Rubio who made the extra pass to Martin for a three. Boom-boom-boom. Splash. Beautiful movement.]

Ricky - It's simply inaccurate to say Bazz cares little about defense. He's been working his tail off on the defensive end so far this season. And that effort has turned him from a poor defender into a decent one. He's definitely not a passer! But neither is Wiggins. Wiggns had 2 assists in 36 minutes tonight; Bazz had 1 in 15 minutes. Wiggins doesn't rebound or pass. At least Bazz does one of those two and he does it well. He goes full steam all the time and hustles after loose balls on both ends.
Lip, I just don't see Bazz in the same light as you do. I do see Bazz hustle on offense which is good but I think he conserves his energy when he plays defense. I see him take plays off on defense where he's already focused on getting down the court on the offensive end. I don't see any proof that Bazz is working his tail off any more than the other players. If he has such a great work ethic, why has he been out of shape in more than one offseason. Zach and Karl are probably the biggest gym rats on the team. I think we are in agreement a bit on Andrew though. But lets cut him some slack as he's just starting his second year.
