And that would only be if we hit on some top picks and they mature quickly otherwise our team will be miserably bad. Im talking 30 win seasons coming up. YAY. We didnt just spend 13 of the last 14 years there or anything. You need youth or picks and we got neither.

You might be right, but if that's the case, this trade isn't gonna be the reason why they don't make the playoffs. You might as well just say you don't believe in Towns and Wiggins, to which I say, they weren't gonna win anything anyway if they don't pan out.

That's a good point about Wiggins and Towns etc.

The Wolves starting lineup will likely have Towns Wiggins and 3 starters on playoff teams on it. Robert Covington will contribute more to winning games than Zach Lavine did while he was here (and I like Zach) and we were winning 30 or whatever games. This team has a legit shot at making the playoffs in the next 4 years.

As for the youth part...I guess Saric being 24 in his 3rd year in the NBA is too old. Good thing we didn't get that ancient Josh Richardson guy. Lol

I doubt it'll end up differently, but I'm holding out a TINY bit of hope that there ends up being a 1st rounder attached come Monday. Wouldn't be the first time a finalized trade had a smidge more than first reported.

That second round pick is the first year that high school kids can become draft eligible. A second round that year might be similar or maybe better than a late round pick in the next couple of years.

That's assuming the class is good.

Right now those guys are 8th graders and high school freshmen.

Yeah it could be a decent piece. I'm just wondering if getting a 1st in addition to what was reported would change anyone's mind or make them like it a lot more.

Which is all the more reason you get a young great talent or a draft pick. People who think this team is now going to take the next step are more crazy than me. Butler was by far our best player on our team. We get Saric who is basically a younger version of anthony tolliver with worse shooting and a couple extra rebs a game and a 29 year old covington who is solid but is what he is. We did this trade with thibs in mind instead of our future in mind. Terrible trade.

What is the future?

You're still looking for a franchise savior on a team with 2 players making max money. Like I said already, just say you don't believe in Towns and Wiggins. I'm not saying you'd be wrong, but if you were hoping this trade would rescue the team somehow, your hopes were misguided.

Looking at the league now, I don't see anyone dealing anything of value for Taj.

Teague, maybe you get Phoenix to bite, but you'd probably have to take Anderson back

I definitely dont believe in wiggins and towns is not enough by himself. You need to put a team around him and with wiggins contract you must do that through the draft or young guys with potential.

By the time these "young guys with potential" are ready to contribute, if ever, Towns is outta here.

Covington turns 28 in December. You are also underrating Saric by quite a bit.

What if this was the best trade on the table? Isn't it better than watching him walk?

Personally, I think people are overreacting a tad and assuming we for sure had a better offer on the table. The only thing we know is the Heat had Richardson and a 1st on the table including a bad contract. I'm not convinced that is much better if at all. I do wish Covington or Wiggins was a better ball handler, but I'm willing to wait and see how they do.
