I didn't realize it had been that long. :). Once we used up our cap space on Taj, it was bound to take a long time. Remaining free agents we might be able to get for the minimum have obviously been waiting for some team with cap space or cap exceptions to offer them more. I recall reading a report several weeks ago that the Wolves had extended an offer to a 3-point shooter who was waiting for more lucrative opportunities. I was thinking that player must be Dunleavy, Morrow or Brooks. I wonder if that offer is still on the table.

The wait will have been worth it, if we end up with Bazz and two of the following: Brooks, Morrow, Cunningham, Bogut.

It sounds like MGH has a legit chance to be on the roster so I wouldn't say it's zero progress but yeah I think we would have thought we would have gotten someone by now. I think the Wolves may have gotten more picky than I would have guessed.

Picky is fine at this juncture. I don't think we've missed out on any gems since exhausting our cap space and signing Crawford to our one non-minimum cap exception -- although I'm still miffed we missed out on Luke Babbit. :) And I think the delay is more attributable to players holding out for better offers than the minimum we can provide. That conclusion is supported by the report that the Wolves have at least one offer on the table to a FA who is purportedly holding out for a better financial offer. If the Wolves think the player to whom they've already extended an offer is better than the alternatives, then should continue to be picky and patient while that player decides. The less attractive alternatives will likely still be there. If not, it's not like we're missing out on any needle-movers -- although I think getting Bazz back would be a significant positive for the team.

Here's an article from ESPN this morning, referring to a recent interview with Thibs:

9:12 AM CT
ESPN.com

Minnesota Timberwolves president of basketball operations and head coach Tom Thibodeau was interviewed on WCCO-830 AM, according to the Pioneer Press, and part of the discussion focused on the four open roster spots the Wolves have. Thibodeau said he believes the team will sign a few players in the next two weeks.

Rumor Central"We think we're going to have a shot at some really good players, but we have to be patient," Thibodeau said.

At this point, the Wolves only have minimum salaries and one two-way contract available to free agents. One player Thibodeau has spoken to is Shabazz Muhammad, who was renounced by the team to open up salary-cap room. There is a chance Muhammad could re-sign with the Timberwolves, as his agent has yet to find the forward a deal with any of the other 29 NBA teams.

"He's one of the players we are talking to," Thibodeau told KFXN-100.3. "Bazz has a great relationship with a number of players on the team. I know they would like to have him back. He's got to make a decision shortly."

With training camp set to open in less than a month, Thibodeau will look to bring in a backup point guard and two wing players.

In other news, Thibodeau said the team has spoken to Andrew Wiggins several times regarding the five-year, $148 million max contract that is on the table, and the situation remains fluid.

"Hopefully in the next few weeks we'll get there, but it's been very positive with Andrew," Thibodeau told KFXN-100.3.

After the Wolves added Jimmy Butler, Jeff Teague, Taj Gibson and Jamal Crawford this offseason, most NBA experts believe Minnesota will make the 2018 playoffs.

I'm not sure what Thibs means when he says the situation with Wiggins "remains fluid." That phrase usually means that anything can happen. But that simply shouldn't be the case with Wiggins. He has a max contaract on the table and there is nothing to negotiate under the collective bargaining agreement. Nothing should be up in the air so it doesn't make sense that the situation would be "fluid." Is Wiggins pissed over Taylor's public comment? Is he pissed that Towns and Butler were publicly pushing for a trade to get Kyrie, which Andrew might have reasonably interpreted as a slight since Towns and Butler had to know the only way to get Kyrie was to trade him? Why did he suddenly change agents? This is weird.

I wonder who Thibs is referring to as the "really good players" the Wolves have a shot at.

I may be worthwhile to keep in mind the context of Thibs praise. He said a few times that players that make it to the league are really good players which the context was telling those guys have confidence in your game and work hard you can make it etc.

Wake me up when there is some actual news about Wiggins extension.

It would be good to have Cunningham back as a bit player.
