Mostly true, but it's a temporary inconvenience in the whole scheme of things. Teague would eventually be traded.

I'm kinda torn too. I'm still against a trade for Irving that includes Wiggins, but I can see the argument for it. Khansy has doggedly defended his position (as usual) on this one and his logic does make some sense.

Poor Future...just a few weeks ago, we traded away young assets for Butler and he damn near melted down. Now what happens if Wiggins is gone!? He might have to change his name to "ThePast".....

The team you have on July 29th is not the team at the end of the year. What if Tony Allen signs for the min (wolves have offered). Then teague becomes a great 6th man who still can be traded. Would have a good mix of defense and offense in the starting lineup and a bench of teague, Crawford, Dieng, Belly is pretty damn good. Also would have 3 players who are top 5 at their position.

I still wouldn't do the trade but I honestly don't think it is bad either way.

If you believe the reports that the Wolves made a formal offer, then there's not question the offer includes Wiggins. Keep in mind that to match salaries, the Wolves would have to give up other players as well. Would it just be Cole? Or would it be Gorgui? I'm guessing it's Wiggins, Tyus Jones and Cole Aldrich.

I'm just hoping the Cavs opt for another offer to save Thibs and Layden from themselves. Thibs is trying to put his old band back together. He got Butler and Taj. No doubt he sees Kyrie as the recreation of Derrick Rose - a ball-dominant, scoring all-star PG. I guess Teague would be Kyrie's backcourt mate. Not much defense or size there. We'd have no backup PG and our only backup wing would be Crawford. I guess we might trade Teague in late December. Not much stability there.

The more I reflect on this the more I can't believe Thibs has actually made an offer.

A few years ago when I played fantasy football I got lots of formal trade offers from one of my friends. It was hard to take any of the seriously. I missed him when he quit. How do you make a "formal" trade offer in the NBA? Do you put it in writing? Do you fax it over? :)

I agree, completely. The Wolves have a chance to win and lose a potential Irving trade. Turn down the trade and Wiggins fails to improve in any significant way in year four and your championship hopes fizzle. Trade him and Irving and/or Butler bail in two years and you can fold the franchise. For me if Irving's third year was a team option I'd make the trade.

I can save everybody the stress of worrying as I already know how this turns out. If they keep Wiggins then he'll be paid a 5-year max contract and never be any better than he is now. If they trade him he'll become the star we all held out hope he would be and Irving will sign an extension with the Wolves in two years and almost immediately suffer a career ruining injury, not bad enough to get out from under his contract, but he'd never again be a top five PG. So yeah, find a new hobby guys.

Yup, a gamble either way, which is why arguments can be made either way and should be respected.

Wiggins doesn't need to explode, he just needs to stop being a lazy space cadet when not defending his man one on one and keep developing his outside shot. He and Butler could really be scary together. Not many teams boast a pair of big, two-way wings that those guys have the potential to be.

Yup, a gamble either way, which is why arguments can be made either way and should be respected.

In my honest opinion, I think he needs to explode. In the era of super teams if he can't be a consistent all star caliber player, I don't think team will ever sniff legit contention.

Maybe I missed it, but does anybody find it concerning that KAT and Butler would be so gung ho to make a trade for Irving? They must understand Wiggins is truly the only chip available to could reasonably be expected to get Irving and yet they're lobbying for it? If that is true then you really have to question how close KAT and Wiggins are, and wonder if there is a rift already developing? If there is something unsaid and/or unreported then not trading could end up being a big issue down the line.
