What's amazing is that you could actually write that with a straight face.

Cool. D-Will may put up #s on a bad team. He also may be a good 9th or 10th man of the bench on a good team. That is his upper limit.

Are you arguing with him being inconsistent or having a very low BB IQ?

Cool probably doesn't like the "I'm happy that we were able to get someone as valuable as Luc" comment... even though it's true. I was surprised we even got him to be honest.

Cam, I agree that comment was probably the primary issue that Cool had with my post. That said. Cool is always honest. He and I disagree frequently. And, Cool knows a bunch about basketball. There is no doubt in my mind that he is right.....atleast some of the times. :p

Disagreement is good here provided it doesn't result in personal insults or name calling. By and large I think most of the regular posters do a good job of not crossing that line. I used to have battles with certain posters that would get to the brink, but cool heads would normally prevail.

I appreciate the comment about honesty. My honesty may rub some the wrong way when I say what they don't want to hear. But yes, I will always be honest even when it's not the most popular opinion.

Remember my right about/wrong about thread last year? That was proof that I have been right at least on rare occasions. :D

I have a couple issues with this whole argument. First is when any of you say what DW can be, because you have absolutely no idea what the guy is capable of. BBIQ is something you develop, so it would be understandable if a guy like Dante or Luc had a higher one. DW will most likely improve in that regard with more years and experience.

Putting up big numbers on a bad team isn't anything to write home about, but doing it with very good efficiency is. There are two ways to look at things. One is that someone has to get numbers, and the other is to realize that it is easier to focus on a scorer if most of the team stinks. DW has a TS% of over 60 since joining SAC. To give you an idea of how good that is, it would rank #1 on the wolves by a far margin.

For me, none of what I posted above really matters when I weighed the trade. The only thing that mattered is that DW is already as good a player (or better) than Luc, Dante, Bud, etc.., but the thing that sets them apart is that DW is the only guy that looks to improve. All the others have plateaued, which means the wolves gave up one of their assets that had the ability to improve our team, I think improve it dramatically.

If I knew nothing else about DW, I could tell you Adelman screwed up and even the pro-adelman media know it. I heard Mackey on the radio the other day, and one comment really summed up the DW experience for me. He said that he expected a guy with DW's athletic ability to be putting up over 10 rebs/36 min. Does LeBron (the best player in the game) and a SF/PF even average that? This is exactly what I have been preaching against the entire time. Unrealistic expectations that have been set for DW, but not for anyone else. Has Adelman ever stated that other SF's on the team need to attack the basket more, or be more aggressive. NEVER, would be the answer, and yet DW had the best 3pt % of any of our wings last season.

SJM -- I think your post is the most persuasive in this thread. Excellent analysis supported by solid facts.

Update on Williams:
http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/w/willide02.html

FG%.480 3PT .333 and for Q eFG%.520 since going to Sac. Pretty nice and all career high rates for him. Only 13 games in but we will see if this trend continues. If it does I am afraid for Bazz's future here.

he is mostly on dunk only mode, that is like praising Deandre Jordan for his FG%, if you watched Kings games, the guy is completely clueless

I hate to say it but with Rudy Gay on the kings DW is doomed. I think I saw that he got 11 minutes last game.

He's getting minutes, he just isn't producing. 4 points and 2.6 rebounds in almost 21 minutes per game his last five, compared to Mbah a Moute's 4.8 and 5 in fewer minutes. And whose defense would you prefer?

It's time to admit that Flip picked Sac-town's pocket with this deal. It was really fun to watch Derrick in his first game with the Kings. He was flying all over the court looking like the college Williams, and the fans were ecstatic. But it didn't take long for him to show his real colors. Marvelous talent, but no motor...and you can't coach motor. Derrick Williams is an NBA bust.
